I actually think it uses both. I have passed a temporary sign and it updated on the dash. Google Maps still had the old speed limit. I have been pleasantly surprised by its accuracy where I live. I do understand these things are very regional though.

I have the Turbo S. Had the car a month and launched about a half dozen times. I love it. I would use it more but am very careful to only do it on secluded country roads with no potential of cross traffic. Probably too cautious.
