I'm in the 'Not 50 shades of grey' camp. Classic Porsches always look great in more interesting colours. Mahogany looks great and Mamba is also reminiscent of 70's and 80's Porsche colours that are now so sought after. I think I currently favour Neptune Blue. I love the non-metallic colours.
Glad you e broken the fifty shades of grey barrier. I contend that the best classic porsches are ones in bold colours - Bahamas yellow springs to mind but great blues and greens. So why not modern porsches that are beautiful designs too. Congrats on the colour choice
Do I want a Mercedes S class? No. So Lucid current offering doesn’t appeal. I want a sporting vehicle with 4 useable seats. Porsche range is sufficient for 95% of miles I drive without charging. So Taycan range is acceptable and for me rarely an issue.
Lucid looks like a great car but not...
I very much agree that the race to ‘ludicrous’ 0-60 times is frankly dangerous. In nearly any normal driving conditions away from a track 0-60 time of anything under 4s is really nuts and in most hands dangerous.
Excellent summary. And I agree only the fortunate few will enjoy either car but used cars will be cheaper in just a few years time. And if you apply the logic of basic utility across everything the world becomes a very grey dull place, a little sunshine helps make life worthwhile.
I had an early i3 which was strong on one pedal driving and the frustration for me was not being able to ‘freewheel’. The Porsche Taycan lets you do this and apply the regen brake through the brake pedal which to me makes a lot of sense.
Very interesting. Could you enlighten me regarding cellular reception and insulated glass? I’m keen on the insulated glass but might reconsider if it wrecks phone reception, does a solid roof help?
Very interesting thank you and answers all my questions bar one. Could you programme one of the ‘option’ buttons to set up an individual mode? Also which features would you choose to set up with the option buttons? I found this useful on my old X3
Great colour choice and delighted to see Porsche colours making a come back. I’m choosing Neptune blue ... just love Porsche solid colours and a refreshing change from 50 shades of grey. In addition choosing a contrast interior really helps. I love the blackberry interior but couldn’t make it...
I think wheels and tyres can achieve such efficiency gains TeslaBjorn best number for the 4S came from 19” wheels and hankook Evo tyres at 56mph highway driving and got to 360miles in range mode on a summer day 24 degC or 75degF. So perfect conditions but shows what is possible if you need to...
Thanks for that info. I was going to spec SC but would really prefer to get rid and f the clock on top of the dash which ruins the clean lines I. My view but wanted to n is if I can get to SC via different set up. Wil eliminate SC from spec.
This is a great thread. Of course it’s all just a matter of opinion. I like the idea of hanging onto a car really long term and there’s probably more likelihood of this with an electric car if you can upgrade the battery pack after say 10 years. The beauty of a Porsche is the build quality...
I feel pretty much the same. With battery guarantee for 8 years that seems good to me. The battery tech that Porsche refer to I suspect is VW solid state battery (I think from Qualcomm?) and that might be 5 years away from real production so I have taken the plunge. Taycan is unquestionably...
I’ve gone on the same journey but a virtual one fortunately as I haven’t placed an order just yet. The value proposition for the CT4 is definitely the best. I love the sedan shape but practicality of the CT4 is too much to ignore and has most of the advantages of an SUV without the clunky...
The colour is strikingly similar. Here is Malcolm Campbell’s Bentley 4.5 Litre at the Lakeland Motor Museum in the Lake District National Park U.K. There is an evocative Donald Campbell exhibition
