  1. Range at high speeds?

Ahh, moon wheels. Looking at my aero wheels, we are well on the way to getting back there.
  2. Range at high speeds?

A quick read on this, comes up with all kinds of interesting things and what Porsche (especially) and other manufacturers do to improve handling at different speeds. Here's a link that goes into more detail with references to Porschce...
  3. Range at high speeds?

The difference in the power consumption you are seeing may result from where you are measuring the power. For the system as whole P = F * v where P is the power in watts, F is the total drag force and v is the velocity. For similar cars, this should be similar. But if your power is measured...
  4. Taycan Turbo S on track by EVO

There will come a day when battery technology removes the weight penalty and increases the energy density so every EV will go around corners like an F1 car and down straights like a top fuel dragster.
  5. Taycan Turbo S on track by EVO

It's the other dynamics that come to dominate. Specifically the centrifugal force which tends to push the car away. That's being that 6 or 8 feet outside of the desired line. This goes up by the square of the angular velocity. So the faster you are going around the corner, the more grip you...
  6. Charging from dryer plug

There are suggestions on this thread that would lead a DIY'er to believe they can figure out how to manage their own install or buy some device that splits the current between the dryer and EVSE. You can't do it safely and the codes are changing so what is recommended now may not be down the...
  7. Taycan Turbo S on track by EVO

Some track POV visuals at 3:10 mark. As discussed many times, the weight is a factor.
  8. Anyone bored of EV?

Well you could also try SIM racing. Any car, any track, any skill level for a lot less money and you are all set.
  9. Drive Unit: Motor | Tech Talks | Lucid Motors

Well, all those equations actually work and are used in real life. Not just nerd stuff. The real magic that uses the smarts, is actually in the material science.
  10. [ANNOUNCED] - PMCC tech advisory : charging rate amperage lowered for "normal" usage of the PMCC (rate reduced by half)

Exactly. This is a legal concoction so Porsche can claim no responsibility if something bad happens.
  11. at what point do we stop apologizing for Porsche

So @daveo4EV and @kort you’ve been around a long time and appear to not like the current situation. So what is your preferred alternative at this point in time? Do you have one? or are you just venting. What would you trade your Taycan for right here and now, and why? I am always looking to...
  12. at what point do we stop apologizing for Porsche

Gee a Porsche interior in a Porsche. I am shocked, just shocked. And so why did they implement an optional button on the steering wheel, if the screens are the be all and end all? Certain functions implemented via touch screens aren't the best idea. They become a driver distraction. Good way...
  13. at what point do we stop apologizing for Porsche

Pluses out weigh the minuses by a large amount, so I have no desire to sell/trade it. Most of the niggly things have been fixed or on their way out. My big criticism is the use of a touch screen rather than nobs and dials which are more appropriate for some functions. Porsche clearly...
  14. [ANNOUNCED] - PMCC tech advisory : charging rate amperage lowered for "normal" usage of the PMCC (rate reduced by half)

I don't think this is right. Bulletin #: 2104.4 from NHTSA reporting overheating and discoloration at the charging socket is a potential warranty issue as it could be a safety issue. The bulletin itself reports that this is under investigation so you cannot preclude that it is not warrantable.
  15. [ANNOUNCED] - PMCC tech advisory : charging rate amperage lowered for "normal" usage of the PMCC (rate reduced by half)

It should be clarified as there appear to be at several issues with respect to the PMCC. The supply cable which gets hot. The pins to the car which show signs of excessive heat. This appeared in the NHTSA report. This would likely be caused by either a faulty connection of the wire to the...
  16. [ANNOUNCED] - PMCC tech advisory : charging rate amperage lowered for "normal" usage of the PMCC (rate reduced by half)

That is what I hope the case is. But I want to hear it from the company. I have had few overheating problems with my unit, but I live in a cooler climate. If asked to bring my unit in for the "update", I will be asking for the details, in writing. Called padding the file.
  17. [ANNOUNCED] - PMCC tech advisory : charging rate amperage lowered for "normal" usage of the PMCC (rate reduced by half)

I am wondering why no one has pursued an unsafe product claim on this matter to either have it replaced or be compensated. Either the product is safe or it isn't. Simple question to your dealer/Porsche. Is the product safe or not. I am in a different jurisdiction and have not yet had the...

  20. Q: "Which Legacy Automaker Is Selling Most EVs As Portion Of Overall Sales In USA?" - A: Porsche & Taycan!

It just confirms that the Taycan is a really attractive car. (Though the numbers are badly skewed without the inclusion of Tesla).
