I drive my Taycan as a daily also, for all seasons. I'm really not an SUV person either. I had a pre order on a Macan years ago and got it without even test driving it. Never liked it and traded it in a few months after. Really torn on the idea of the G580. I can get one without ADMs but the...
The AMG is staying V8 but the 550 went V6. A lot of dealers are still asking for ADMs on the electric one. I don't think the EV market supports that right now lol
Lol! I love the car, but usually switch cars a lot more often then I have done in this case. This forum has been great for advice, so I tend to bounce ideas here.
Am I crazy for considering a G580? My Taycan Turbo is approaching the 4 year mark and I'm ready for something new. I'd like to stay electric. Looking for something to sit 5 (with preferably a little bit more space then the Taycan). I also had a Panamera before the Taycan and felt it was a little...
Lol! To be fair, the Taycan has been the longest I've ever had a car (almost 3.5 years now!). Which says a lot about how good the car is. I really haven't found much to replace it with and am really thinking outside of the box now lol
Agree on all points. In this case, they spent all day re-programming before they gave up and decided that hardware needed to be replaced. It appeared that the software corrupted the hard drives of the MBUX, and then shorted out some other things as well.
Agreed but the dealerships definitely didn't see it that way and all wanted a "diagnostic fee" at the very least (which I doubt MB would ever reimburse). Seems like there is very little guidance from manufacturers on this right now - at least not from Mercedes. Their solution here was just to...
I don't have the full breakdown, but the MBUX control unit itself was $5k in parts and the labor rate was $225/h. They also had to take a lot of things apart since I think they ultimately broke more things while trying to fix it at the dealership.
I agree it should technically be on them but it...
Hmm, that's what I'm thinking too. Seems like even with 3mo warranty I'd have a much easier time selling it? Hmm
GLS: An OTA update bricked it. Mercedes is stepping up and covering it but it could have cost me 10 grand or more.
I still have my '21 Turbo - haven't really been thinking of selling until recently I just had a big warranty issue with my wife's GLS which is a month out of warranty. With my Taycan warranty ending in April next year - I wonder if it makes sense to sell it before then? I guess two thoughts...
I went with a Turbo (vs the S). For daily driving I don't think you'll notice a difference. If you're someone who just needs to have the best or highest trim, the S isn't that much if an up charge.
You can still get the $7, 500 EV credit by leasing, and for now at least - Porsche is giving some more $ (that dealers are matching) - I think it's $15k total in most cases. That's for 2024 models though - for 2025, I wouldn't expect more then a few grand off and the $7,500 credit (if you're...
