The thing with ActiveRide is that the previous generation wasn't exactly bad, but I would still say that it's quite a noticeable upgrade. The car feels very different to drive and my personal nemesis, the speed bump near my house, is at least no longer giving me me a concussion every morning...
Another major issue with this is that CarPlay uses WiFi to connect, so you can't tether the phone and use (wireless) CarPlay at the same time. In my case, I have a mobile LTE modem in the trunk, but I'm not sure whether that will fix this issue.
Honestly, I find the whole video player to be a...
Alright, I’ll try to answer the questions as best I can. :)
1. ActiveRide is a separate package, but I think it might differ between the CT and the Sedan/ST. The wheel spec was a bit messy when I ordered since the configurator hadn’t been fully updated at that point. I specifically didn’t want...
Today, I said farewell to my trusty Rocinante and picked up what currently has the working title Rocinante II, a new 2025 Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo.
I've only had her for half a day, so I haven't had time to fully assess all the differences, but spontaneously I can say that it's still very...
My personal conspiracy theory is still that Porsche deliberately painted the standard rims in the ugliest colour they could imagine, to persuade people to upgrade to more expensive rims.
The rims themselves evidently aren’t actually ugly in essentially any other colour than the standard one.
They’ve added a checkbox to prioritise IONITY a while ago, so if you have the latest version of the app and PCM, you should already have it.
I didn’t play around with the navigation that much (not sure why, I got distracted I guess), but I’ve heard that they’ve added a few new features, like...
I didn't exactly push it, but it drives pretty much how you would expect. Like I said, it's hard to compare going from a top specced Turbo S to a medium specced 4S.
Notably, however, it didn't have Active Ride, but even then it actually felt quite comparable to PDCC on my Turbo S, so they've...
So far they have at least eventually updated older models to the new software (notably with the MY22 PCM), but we’ll see.
I’m not sure if the hardware has actually changed, but I can tell that the interface was definitely smoother now after playing around with my car a bit.
Notably, switching...
My local Porsche center had an event today where I got to look at and testdrive the new MY25 Taycan. In true Porsche spirit, they didn't have any Turbo models available and the cars were actually quite surprisingly spartanly specced. There were however a few interesting things that I noticed, so...
My concern is that Tesla is needed to set the high standard that other brands aspire to. Without Superchargers as the golden standard, I fear the other brands will eventually grow complacent and settle that 6 chargers without nearby facilities and 60% uptime ought to be enough for anyone.
However, Ford explicitly says on their website that an update is not needed, but only recommended for better integration:
https://www.ford.com/support/how-tos/electric-vehicles/public-charging/how-do-i-get-a-fast-charging-adapter-nacs/
It does however seem like Tesla actually uses P&C for...
Are you entirely sure about that? IIRC, in Ford's case, the update merely enabled Plug&Charge-like support for Superchargers, updated navigation and other interface changes to integrate better with the network.
The cars could still charge at the Superchargers without the update, according to...
