I did it..went over to the dark side. Even though I love electric cars (and my 2nd car is also electric): I sold my Taycan (god bless Carvana) and ordered an ICE.
I had complained in this forum about difficulty getting my Taycan serviced (long delays due to lack of EV techs). I had also been...
A couple of weeks after installing it, I got "Electrical System Error ..park.....". Made the car unusable. Took to dealer and waited 3 weeks expecting a new/rebuilt battery. Instead got an update (to the update?) that was applied and "fixed" the problem (for now anyway).
It's hard not to do...
Yes..starting to look but concerned this may be a generalized problem in this area (NY/Long Island). California has a much higher adoption rate for EVs than the rest of the country....I'm not optimistic.
I love EVs also...and can live with things breaking.
The core issue tho is that service availability (waiting weeks and weeks for EV service) is unacceptable.
I am a big electric car fan (owned one since 2021; now have a Taycan and a KIA EV6). BUT, I am seriously considering getting an ICE car.
Why?
My Taycan has been a blast – but it is a finicky lover. I can live with all the various software updates and busted heaters since, for the most part...
My car is now in the shop for pretty much the same thing: RED "electrical system error" / always at start / sometimes clearing quickly, sometimes not / always returning. We will see what the dealer says (but they are backlogged...)
