Does anyone have an actual example of buying a new Taycan at a discount in the US? Anything on something besides an RWD model? The feelers I've put out have told me I should feel lucky to "only" pay MSRP.
In the fifteen years I've been married, my wife has mentioned seeing three different kinds of car on the road: an Alfa Romeo Guilia, a Rivian, and the Lucid. So they must be doing something right in their design.
I'm not confident enough to make a prediction about the viability of the company...
Out of curiosity, did they say how long it would take to replace the battery if yours is one of the unlucky 3%? Or did they not even consider that possibility?
Two weeks is at least consistent with how far back my delivery date slipped this most recent time. I don't know the significance of a dealership vs being held at the port though. You would assume these things come in via the port to begin with before being sent to the individual dealerships and...
If it's being held at the dealer it would make sense that they can get more info. Mine is still at the port, and my SA says he can't get anything out of the folks there, but I don't know how hard he tried.
I think the difference is that they already have me over the barrel with a signed purchase agreement. If I walk away, they can sell it for MSRP minus my deposit and still come out even.
Yup. One suspects that's a big reason why Porsche doesn't tell anyone anything about why they're holding the car. I'd definitely walk away and buy something else if I could get the deposit back, which I understand is the point in making me pay it to begin with. As @Hanny mentions, I'll lose...
Curious if anyone had production photos past "Assembly Wedding". It seems weird that they wouldn't have a picture of the completed car as it comes off the line, but that one is the furthest along the production that I got.
Following up on this, the dealership is unsurprisingly not willing to move on the price. He has taken the position that I should be grateful to be getting it at sticker price. Which I would be, if they could actually provide the car. Sigh. So frustrating.
Same here, except mine has been at Jacksonville since July 10. I've had previous predictions of August 3, August 25, and September 21. This time they spun the wheel and it stopped on October 6.
Not a good look that a car that took a week to build came off the assembly line with so many...
Virginia, alas. Not exactly the most consumer-friendly of the states. Who know? Maybe this time the car will actually get released from Jacksonville and make the whole thing moot. My preference is still to buy the car I ordered, if only they'll let me.
Yes, I would certainly prefer not to lose the deposit, which is why I asked if anyone had any luck getting theirs back. The Taycan might be better, but it's entirely notional since Porsche doesn't seem to want to sell me one. Lucid will actually give me a car. For purposes of this exercise...
I'm considering canceling my order if the car isn't released by the next predicted date, which is the 21st of this month. It's completely insane that they can just sit on a car for six months and not give it to me, and I'm at the end of my patience. I drove a Lucid this week and came away...
I had the same question. I think the best case for optimism comes from the verbiage in the mitigation section of the recall notice:
If testing indicates the potential for leakage, the battery will be replaced.
Use of the word "potential" would seem to indicate that Porsche believes that 97%...
Porsche people are a different breed for sure. When I test drove a used Taycan to see if I wanted to order a new one, the salesperson just assumed I would buy it as a tide-me-over car while waiting for the allocation.
Then, at a different dealership, I was driving a used one of a different...
I guess I hope this is the case. This seems like something they'd want to be super certain of, if only for the lawsuits that would result from them deciding to wait for actual failures of a known compromised component causing a fire somewhere.
This is all bit confusing to me.
So some number of cars were built using the bad Teroson sealant. Ok, fine.
Porsche is declining to deliver new cars that used the sealant, and eventually recalling already delivered cars that used it as well.
Those cars will all be tested to see if the...
