The E-Tron is beautiful but still in concept form right? Will be interesting to see how well it compares and sells against the Taycan considering they're built on the same J1 platform.
It'd probably be less efficient, but not too bad... as an example, BMW's inductive floor charging pad transmits 3.2 kw of power (plugged into a 220v outlet). That charges a 530e's 9.2 kw battery in 3.5 hours, compared to a charge time of three hours for the hard-wired 3.7-kW BMW i Wallbox.
That's a gorgeous back end! And when that light strip/bar lights up it's going to look glorious.
I wonder what styling elements, if any, will go on the lower rear bumper though since those are fake exhaust tips which will obviously not be there in the production model.
Welcome to the site! And wow I knew that Norway was very EV friendly but had no idea that your country was that aggressive in promoting electric vehicles. Lucky you, wish I wasn't going to be taxed on my Taycan!
Those calipers are bigger than my head! Curious though, why would you need such massive brakes in an EV since the regenerative braking does so much of the braking? For track use?
I'm glad to see they kept the aggressive flared front fender "vent" at least. I thought that was one of the defining elements of the Mission-E. I do hope it's functional though.
Ye of little faith...
This is why concepts are always a double edged sword. You want to excite buyers and build hype but you risk not meeting your own artificially created expectations when you can't deliver a finished product that can keep the extreme styling aspects while complying with...
Gonna be awesome when the Electrify America charging station network is fully built out to get that 60 mile - 4 minute charge. Will be interesting to see how long it takes to build out 300 highway fast charging stations though.
Smart of Porsche to focus on charging times and addressing range...
Not surprising. I bet there are many dealers with even more customers on their wait list. The demand is so big that Porsche has announced they're expanding production capacity to 40k Taycans annually! Check this out Report: Porsche Expands Taycan Production to 40,000 Vehicles
Performance wise I have no doubt they'll get it right. The standard they've set with their gas cars makes me confident of that. The more subjective aspect - styling, is more of the wildcard.
I think Porsche is engineering the Taycan for more than just cheap thrills (i.e. only being able to hard launch a couple of times like Teslas). And I think the reproducible/repeatable nature of the Taycan's performance will also allow it to actually be performance driven like on the track. Check...
I believe once the Taycan is released and put in head to head tests against the Tesla, it'll be clear which one steals the other's thunder. Once that happens, I think Tesla stands to lose a lot of Model S sales to Porsche.
Crap I'm gonna be in the same dilemma if the Sport Turismo Taycan turns out like this.
I wonder what price premium over the sedan it'll carry though?
BTW these are beautiful preview renderings @Tye!
Your sales person was blowing smoke up you know what if he said the Taycan would look exactly like the Mission E Concept. No production car looks exactly like the concept model. And the prototype photos back that up already. I still think the Taycan will be beautiful but I hold no delusions...
