Yes to the $6.8k to replace the protection plate
Initial diagnosis fee was covered by insurance
Core deposit and HV Tray to be paid in full before they order (this is a first for me, seems odd)
You've pretty much summed it up perfectly here - crappy pictures and no physical diagnostic data. What I'm interested in, and this is the path I'm probably going to take, is when they put my car together and I monitor those cells via an odb dongle and there's not temperature deviations...
The one thing from yesterday was the emergence of the Core replacement at $12k that has to be paid up front - first time I'd heard of it and that's why the claim is now $56k. It's like they're making things up - I did get a follow-on text after my call clarifying the figures:
I appreciate the...
I did some rough calculations and questionned the dealer on why it was close to $4,500 in labor - he just said 'that's the cost'. My response was 'on a serviceable part???' - 'yes' was the answer
Porsche won't let the car off the lot with a damaged protection plate and will de-energize the battery to prevent it being driveable is what they state in that email.
De-energizing it is if they don't replace the protection panel (for towing). As it stands they haven't physically seen the battery, all they've done is remove the protection plate and take the pictures I've posted here, my countless asks for diagnostic data has fallen on deaf ears!
That email...
Bit of an update - after days of them saying they'll get back to me with an ETA for a replacement HA Tray - this is what I just received - to say I'm livid would be an understatement
As it stands, we still have the three options we had touched upon. 1. We charge for the technicians diagnosis...
Little bit of an update - PCNA have been in touch with the dealer but I haven't had any feedback back from them as of yet.
I did speak to the dealer yesterday and they did clarify the pricing for the inspection - the $6.8k does include the initial inspection (still very expensive pictures) and...
@satchurator I haven't heard anything back from the PCNA agent yet - and yes, you're right I think i'll hold off doing anything until I know I have that 'air cover'
The point about the repair kit is that surely means they are taking that bottom tray off and should be able to see any damage to the coolant lines...right?? (or am I missing something)
Asked for a breakdown of the parts required for the $6.5k estimate (again) and this is what he sent - now granted, it doesnt total $6.5k but the interesting one is the repair kit for the battery housing
I've asked for that estimate yet again so we'll see. My email response did outline fee's to date and the return cost.
Either way, getting it back and weighing up my options is probably the way I'm going to go, subject to change of course lol
Oh, trust me, I'm not done with PCNA - the email i sent them has this thread in it too so they can see the overall reaction to this.
Design flaw aside, the way my dealer has treated me is deplorable and the petulance with getting the loaner back is disgusting.
I have lost faith in this dealer...
I think the point of doing it to match it to the insurance estimate has come from PCNA rather than a gesture of goodwill from the dealership.
And yes, my renewal will be more expensive due to the claim and if I decide to not fix it then there will be a record on CarFax (similar to HPI if I...
