Which version of the cam did you buy? Does yours look like mine (vents) or the other one (no vents)? As far as I can tell, the filter is compatible with the no-vents version as there is a thread here on the Taycanforum where someone has the no-vent plus filter installed successfully.
I was going to post my own pic, but then saw yours and that's exactly what I'm trying to sort out so I borrowed it. :)
The problem I'm having with it is that the polarization lense doesn't fit as it was designed for the other model. Without the lense there is significant reflection of the...
Hi all, need some here verifying something. I ordered a FitcamX Model A 4K for my Taycan. Front cam only. Had it professionally installed yesterday. The installer couldn’t get the polarization lense to fit. I bought the correct lense that the company recommended.
Poking around the forum today...
I was really happy with the size and utility of my 911 (had a 991.1 then a 991.2). The backseat was just useable enough for an occasional 3rd passenger. Would love to have something similar, but electric.
Oh man, I'd love a 2 door 4(-ish) seater coupe. We all know the electric Boxster/Cayman is coming, but I need to be able to fit an occasional 2nd passenger!
Yeah, I also found that an accelerator tap usually got my Tesla to stop misbehaving. Don’t get me wrong, though, Autopilot blows away ALK for most things - ALK stinks at lane identification And is *very* primitive… like on occasions where cars are merging into my lane, for example. Autopilot...
Sorry, but this is completely untrue and has been demonstrated time and time again with Tesla’s slamming into things. They’ve slammed into trucks, ambulances, police cars on the side of the road. Mine used to slow down for no reason all the time due to traffic on the sides that was behaving...
This has got to be some kind of manufacturing screw up... what possible use-case or rational explanation is there for having the plug point in the wrong direction?
Unlikely... but maybe it can be rotated (without twisting the whole thing around) or something?
The problem is that Tesla's approach to Autopilot (and FSD) is inherently flawed. Vision-only is a total loser of an approach. The counter-argument is that if humans can drive with eyes-only, so can autonomous driving, but that's no good, IMHO, because human aren't really the greatest drivers...
As someone who had a Tesla, (Model 3 Performance prior to my Taycan) - Tesla's rain sensing was absolutely terrible. Wish they used the $1 rain sensor that everyone else uses.
The S and X sales volumes are tiny now. They did well at the time, but they’re not doing well now as a result of stagnation.
Their real bread and butter though are the 3 and Y. The 3 just hit 7 years and has just gone through a major refresh (Highland). Rumor is that the Y refresh (Juniper) is...
The Model S is the extreme in the opposite direction - it makes too little in terms of changes and has become a bored and tired design in need of a refresh. That‘s part of why Model S sales are abysmal now.
Oooooooh! lol :)
I think there was a misunderstanding. OP compared the Taycan to the Voyager so I jokingly mentioned that Voyager was a lot more expensive.
But then I compared the Taycan to the Model 3 and was sad because Porsche isn't leveraging OTA to the extent that Tesla does. :p
Actually the total cost in 1977 was about $325M since it actually covered 2 units of output. So closer to $1.7B today. Last I read, it sounded like the Taycan development was about $800M-ish… not sure where you got the $10s of billions number from? I think you may be looking at Porsche’s green...
To be fair, Voyager 1 cost $250 million in 1977 dollars which is now about $1.3 billion in 2024 dollars.
But the fact that the Tesla Model 3 at $41k is doing OTA... well, I digress...
I'll throw in my 2 cents. Aside from my Tesla, I've never had a car that received more than 1 software update during my time of ownership... but, that said, the software was a lot simpler and stable back then.
Times have changed and Porsche needs to get with the program. They're now...
Got my check today. Here's my timeline:
3/19 - submitted
4/30 - email from them: "sorry we're taking so long, the check's ready and going out soon"
5/20 - got the check
I'm happy with ALK, Innodrive didn't interest me.
That said, know that ALK isn't the same as Autopilot. Coming from a Tesla, I was kind of hoping that was the case, but it has nowhere near that level of autonomy.
I'm still pretty happy with it, though, because it does significantly reduce the...
I just pulled up my email records now that I'm home. Correction, I received the notification today, not yesterday. It looks like I submitted the APB6 form at 9 PM on 3/19 - so exactly 6 weeks today.
Perhaps they're processing the form in batches?
