  1. Taycan RWD

My general sentiment is that the Taycan RWD is plenty fine for normal driving but… it’s still slow by *today’s* standards. For $100k plus it really needs to be faster than a Tesla Long Range. This is a Porsche, not a MB luxo-barge - it should be considered “fast” overall. Again, it’s not slow...
  2. Loaner fees from Porsche Dealer

Yes. Don’t quote me on the gas price though. I remember it was high, but forget the exact amount. Didn’t really pay attention since I was only going to put 4 miles on the car anyway. - Edit - I just checked the loaner paperwork. It was $9/gallon.
  3. [Resolved] - Tesla Universal Charge Issues - at home charging

This is a common issue with the Universal Charger and happened to me as well. Contact Tesla support and they'll push a software update to your charger. After that, everything will work as intended.
  4. Loaner fees from Porsche Dealer

I got my Taycan software updated and got a Macan loaner. They told me to bring it back full or I'd be charged for the gas. I forget how much, but it was pretty high - like $15/gallon $9/gallon (edited after checking paperwork) or something like that. The tank was full and I only drove 4 miles...
  5. ALK > ALK + LKA

That's not an apples-to-apples comparison. I'm comparing ALK to Tesla Autopilot. ALK is not meant to compete with Tesla FSD. Nice you got FSD for $6k, but the price has gone up a ton since then - at the current price of $16k it's yet to deliver on the driving experience (or robo-taxis) that...
  6. Faulty cupholders?

Uh oh… but was Porsche branded air, Porsche’air (pronounced Por-shar), used to fill those NF0 tyres? And if so, were adequate measures taken to ensure that the non-approved plebian air from the atmosphere didn’t seep in to reduce the effectiveness of the Porsche‘air?
  7. Faulty cupholders?

But his facts do lend to replacement under warranty as the item failed under normal usage conditions.
  8. ALK > ALK + LKA

Definitely, try it - it's much better! I found out I could turn it off by digging through the settings after LKA angrily beeped at me (with ALK on) and sent me into the next lane unexpectedly!
  9. ALK > ALK + LKA

Yep, it's much nicer that way! That's my currently preferred way of using ALK too.
  10. ALK > ALK + LKA

Correct, that's why I purchased ALK. What really surprised me though was that ALK, with LKA enabled, was terrible when being used *together*. You'd think they'd enhance each other, but that wasn't the case. Simply disabling LKA and running ALK by itself was much better.
  11. ALK > ALK + LKA

Just added Active Lane Keep to my car because I was missing autopilot from my Tesla. At first, I had that on with Lane Keep Assist on. What a disaster - car was kind of steering while also kind of bouncing between lane markers. It was unnerving. Then I hit a turn, the car beeped and then sailed...
  12. Tires and a frugal RWD owner

Does anyone know what tires will be on the 2025 Taycan? Those are supposed to be designed for EVs and improved for better mileage. Personally, I'd use this an excuse to buy a set of those (if possible).
  13. Range exhausted, two miles from home. Help? FAIL!

I’m not sure about the UK one, but the US one also doesn’t fit with the short (outlet side) cord attached. But mine detaches easily with no tools. If I remember right, there is a release mechanism that can be activated hand to detach the cord.
  14. All new Taycan in 2028 and coexistence with Panamera EV

Ah, I get you - the problem is that Porsche is in a catch-22 situation. EV technology is new enough that it's evolving at an insane pace right now. In a normal world, small changes between refreshes would stabilize values - a la 911's... but it isn't apple-to-apples because ICE technology is...
  15. All new Taycan in 2028 and coexistence with Panamera EV

"2. Pricing or finance incentives will be needed to maintain anything like the quoted number of 150,000 owners of "current" versions who are currently rewarded with accelerated depreciation for supporting and informing the development process of the next versions." Isn't this pretty much par...
  16. Breaker Tripping When Charging

Yeah, I found your earlier post after I posted that. I'm thinking that what you're doing is more of a workaround, though, as perhaps addressing the root cause of the issue. In general, that breaker shouldn't be popping under normal conditions (which does include a car charging starting up or an...
  17. Breaker Tripping When Charging

I don't get what you're saying. Are you saying that you're not on an AFCI breaker and are NOT having problems? Or you are on a non-AFCI breaker and you ARE having problems? If you are on a non-AFCI breaker and you ARE having problems, then I stand by what I've said that something seems to be...
  18. Breaker Tripping When Charging

All motors can be spikey during start up - if the charger is on a dedicated 50A breaker, it shouldn’t be tripping. The fact that it’s tripping indicates that something is wrong. It could be as simple as the breaker being bad, but nothing should trip when the car starts charging so long as only 1...
  19. Taycan re-sale issues

Depends on use-case. I change cars every 3-4 years - even when I buy them cash. Switching to leasing took the stress and uncertainty out of the equation and is worth something. Leasing made even more sense with the Taycan as I suspect the residual is higher than its real-world value.
  20. Charger Recall Campaign - How to apply for your voucher/check

My plan was to use the included charger with my 50A outlet so I didn't do any research or prep because none was necessary. The sales person had confirmed the morning of delivery that it would be coming with the 220 plug (I wasn't aware of the recall) so I was blind-sided by this info when I...
