Yeah, my home charging is 7kW anyway, but I guess it will now be 9.6kw instead of 11kw on the rare occasions I use 3-phase AC charging. I was thinking about reports I’d seen of other issues where this update had been suspected as the cause. Not that Taycan owners are paranoid about such things 😆
WSS4 landed on my car today and I think it installed, but when I clicked to have a look at that final notification it disappeared and the pcm did a refresh and there’s now no evidence of anything having happened. The app of course is blissfully unaware. I’ll look out for any strange behaviours...
Enjoy his videos generally, including these occasional industry big picture perspectives, even this one covers problems with the transition from fossil and the mistakes some brands have made quite well.
In the end though he doesn’t see (or want to see) EVs than can serve pretty much every...
Without Porsche Connect, Octopus needs to connect to your home charger as you probably know. I’m no expert as Octopus connects with my cars, but this link is a good start. Octopus are pretty responsive with questions you might have too.

Could be the same one I had recently (Crayon, Reading?), quite liked the interior and PCM snappier, but yes bit of a tank, jiggly ride, could feel that high cog. Didn’t move the needle away from EVs for me one little bit 😆
Is that with the charge planner off @F1Ruaraidh? I ask because the Porsche centre who did mine suggested that (plus many members on here have good reason to believe charger data overwhelming the PCM is a big part of the issue).
To pick up on the communication issue, the smartmobility agent that...
It’s a mysterious issue to say the least, mine is an example that was crashing every few minutes and unusable to being fine after a 3885 update. Not calling it as fixed but it sure is an odd one.
@ron james there are a few threads about this, if you search on "LTE" you'll see suggestions. If your car has lost connectivity (the "LTE" symbol on the PCM is replaced by crossed out lines) for me activating privacy mode, locking the car for 30 mins before returning to deactivate it sprung LTE...
Is this smartmobility you're dealing with @smoothound ?
They don't seem to acknowledge anything other than when they are told something by the workshop who has the car (and Porsche AG I guess). Like yours, mine has been in for 3885, the SM told me it wasn't the solution, on email too...
Just spoke with my Porsche Centre, they mentioned that WSS4 was an outstanding update for my car, it was only with them a couple of weeks ago. I'll be careful to see the info screen if it does appear OTA.
Don’t understand why it would affect the connection @Tooney it’s not as logical as rebooting the PCM, pulling specific fuses or disconnecting 12v battery, but I’ll take it especially as my Porsche centre aren’t acting quickly.
Tried to be systematic in going through the steps in the excellent @Tooney post on the first page of this thread for the lost LTE connection from the car and was about to move on from 2 finger salutes and fuse pulling to 12v battery disconnection.
I had also tried privacy mode...
Looks like I was premature to link 3885 and losing LTE. I’d activated/deactivated privacy mode, 2 finger salutes, specific fuse pulling and was about to disconnect the 12v battery, but looks like privacy mode strikes again. Activating it, lock up and leave it for 30 minutes before returning to...
As mentioned previously, had 3885 update and hasn’t crashed since, but I did notice some services like the weather widget and Apple Music and podcasts went offline occasionally and I’m pretty sure this didn’t used to happen. Now it’s all gone, the LTE symbol is crossed out and I have no service...
