First big Taycan road trip - Thoughts / Suggestions?

Innodrive so far has been; OK. Without an active route it seems to be mostly the same as ACC. With an active route it will drive more aggressively than I do around local residential streets. Haven't had a chance to do much road trip type driving. My experience with L2 charging at hotels has...

First big Taycan road trip - Thoughts / Suggestions?

Looking to do a bit of a road trip. Plan is to leapfrog out to southern Washington state and head south through wine country to Sonoma/Napa and spend a week or so there before heading home. I'll see if I can post how it's going as we travel. I've scoped out the route using ABRP and Plugshare...

TSB: Completing HV Battery State of Health (SoH) Test Procedure in PIWIS Tester - July 19, 2024

A quiet country drive would be the best option I'd think. A technician might suggest repeated launches out back behind the sorority house, three or four passengers would certainly help with discharging the battery more rapidly. As a customer I'd attempt to arrive at the dealership with 3% or...

Underbody Protection Panel damaged. Batteries and coolant lines need inspection. $72.5K replacement & labor cost. Dealership is Tom Wood in Indiana

What I would like to see and honestly I think I might just do it myself is to install 4 mm offsets on the mounting points of the existing cover, swap in mounting bolts that are 4 mm longer, and 4 mm of exterior grade foam insulation lining the inside of the protective cover. Yes, I lose 4 mm of...

Recall - Front Brake Hoses Can Crack and Leak Fluid (ARB0) - June 19, 2024 -- [2020-2025 Taycan]

My perspective is absolutely influenced by the six month delay caused by the battery recall. My CT was built on the last day they built CTs with the defective battery sealant. It then sat around at the factory, the port, and finally the dealership for those six months. So yeah, I do think...

Recall - Front Brake Hoses Can Crack and Leak Fluid (ARB0) - June 19, 2024 -- [2020-2025 Taycan]

The failure mode this recall addresses is spectacular. The failure rate is tiny and it seems you can mitigate it by not installing lowering links and not turning the steering to full lock in parking lots with the car in its lowest mode. It makes sense for Porsche to prioritize cars stuck in the...

New 240v charge cable available for Porsche Mobile Charger

My mobile charger plus was updated and the cable replaced last Wednesday. Porsche Minneapolis seems to be perfectly capable of completing this one. They weren't able to do the brake lines though.

NHTSA complaints: collision avoidance problem; loss of power - July 13, 2024

I've had it happen, but the car was absolutely responding to a vehicle coming from my left. It would be nice if the car would let us know what it thought it was responding to. A pop-up message of "emergency collision avoidance activated due to object detected approaching from the left." I knew...

Underbody Protection Panel damaged. Batteries and coolant lines need inspection. $72.5K replacement & labor cost. Dealership is Tom Wood in Indiana

A pinch like that in the extrusion would compromise cooling for 3 battery modules. It's interesting that it appears to be glued in place, probably with some thermally conductive adhesive. I can understand why Porsche doesn't want to fix something like that, but it looks eminently repairable by...

Underbody Protection Panel damaged. Batteries and coolant lines need inspection. $72.5K replacement & labor cost. Dealership is Tom Wood in Indiana

Honestly what I want is an easily replaceable guard that has some insulation. I'd happily lose a few mm of ground clearance for that.

First time EV owner, what charger for the house?

Can you use the mobile EVSE that came with the car, the short answer is yes. The slightly longer answer is that it's better to just leave that in the car to use in travel emergencies and install proper charging in your home. With that said, this is my standard boilerplate when someone asks...

My Porsche (via web) being retired.

You're not missing anything. Until recently Taycan owners were able to download all of that detailed information and for those of us who enjoy looking into such details could do so. I was hoping to eventually be able to graph average consumption per trip over more than a year to see how the...

    Complete brake failure !!

The US recall notice states that of the 31,000 recalled cars they expect to see the issue in roughly 5% of them or roughly 1500 cars in total. If the 365 represents the 5% of cars showing the actual issue, that's about 7500 Taycans total in the UK.

Recall - Front Brake Hoses Can Crack and Leak Fluid (ARB0) - June 19, 2024 -- [2020-2025 Taycan]

If it's stressed at the lowest suspension setting add lowering links to the equation and it likely makes it worse. Nonetheless, I'd expect it to be designed so that the hose is not at maximum bend even with the steering at full lock and the suspension fully compressed or extended.

Trip history question for a new boy

As of June 3rd. It's really annoying because the data is still available it's just hidden behind the phone app where you can't download it.

Recall - Front Brake Hoses Can Crack and Leak Fluid (ARB0) - June 19, 2024 -- [2020-2025 Taycan]

Since there are two different parts for left and right sides listed it's possible that the PSCB and PCCB systems use a different hose than the standards brakes. Or there may have already been an iteration.

Recall - Front Brake Hoses Can Crack and Leak Fluid (ARB0) - June 19, 2024 -- [2020-2025 Taycan]

The electric heater and battery sealing failures are somewhat understandable, it's new processes and the third party vendors and Porsche don't have a great deal of history. Flexible brake hoses have been used since the invention of hydraulic brakes so this is a bit more concerning. I really...

Taycan 4S Damaged While in For Recall Work at Dealer

It's nice they're replacing everything, but I own that same model hitch and honestly it's fine. It's rated for 12,000 pounds, fully welded and the scratches the car put into it won't affect performance at all. No need to have it replaced. On a serious note I'm really happy to see the hitch...

Why doesn't regen damage the battery?

Can regen up to 290, doesn't always regen at 290 kW. If you look at the power meter on the dash, you can see the limits displayed there graphically. If you use an ODB dongle and the car scanner app you can see the maximums numerically. If the battery is very cold or very near full charge you can...

    CC2 not too good

Cross Climate 2 tires are for people who see deep snow seasonally and light snow frequently but don't want two sets of tires. For winter tires they're not the best, but are better than many dedicated winter tires. There will be a mileage penalty for using them, because while they're optimized...
