    McMurtry Spéirling

It is dead easy, or at least much easier than aero, to get download with a fan. On top of that fan force gives mega grip in slow corners, which is where a car spends more time, so the potential performance lap time gain from a fan is MUCH more than aero. It is banned from racing for decades.

    Counterintuitive evidence regarding EV Batteries

My guess is that age will also be a factor, because the chemicals may deteriorate with time. It may even be a bigger influence than mileage, which makes a certain amount of sense for items which wear due to friction, but even then a high mileage engine which has run warm for a large proportion...

    Range for J1.1 different Models.

I noticed yesterday having charged with A/C off and got 199 miles at 80% it dropped to 186 as soon as I put A/C eco on, on a cool sunny morning.

"Denza Z9 GT Is Coming To Europe To Undercut Porsche Taycan" - article & video

No wonder it was demonstrated in pouring rain

    Range for J1.1 different Models.

The only journey I have done recently with over 3 m/kWh was 20 slow miles yesterday. I went to Cardiff and back for the weekend got 3.0 at 49mph average going and 2.6 at 45 mph average coming back. Mine is all over the place! Laughably the average claimed by the app is 3.2 since I bought it...

Acoustically insulated laminated privacy glass option

Just speculating on why some people have problems and some do not. TBH whilst I don't think I have problems I may only use my phone in the car twice a month so maybe I have just been lucky.

Acoustically insulated laminated privacy glass option

I very rarely use car play but when I do it disconnects me from the car. I had assumed when it is connected to the car it was using the car sim and antenna not the phone itself for hands free and when using car play it is using the phone itself for hands free. Maybe not, but it seemed to be a...

Acoustically insulated laminated privacy glass option

Could it also be whether you use car play? Perhaps when I get in my car and my phone links to the car it uses an external antenna whereas if you use car play or the Google equivalent it goes through the phone itself? Having written that I don't see poor signal strength on my phone in the car...

Had my first en-route charging problem

I have always planned my routes using an actual map, ABRP and zapmap when I knew I would need a charge but this time the trip originally looked doable with 100% charge at home, but then I had an unexpected additional journey to meet my nephew which made it more marginal. It does seem still to be...

Had my first en-route charging problem

I just had a weekend away and thought I could just do the return journey on one home charge but the sat-nav thought otherwise and chose a charger not far off its chosen route for a 5 minute top up. Anyway the charger was at a Volvo dealer almost next door to the Porsche dealer where Ibought my...

Acoustically insulated laminated privacy glass option

Probably. Also a pale exterior and interior colour probablt increase range by a non negligible amount too.

Porsche and Tariffs [LOCKED DUE TO POLITICS]

He and his mates are the least likely to lose out since they are have the ultimate info for insider trading. It is the rest of us, particularly pensions, he is ruining.

Oh dear, new Taycan standard equipment adds stuff I don't want yet doesn't include a lot of what I do.

My opinion and experience is the same (though not as many miles per year!

Oh dear, new Taycan standard equipment adds stuff I don't want yet doesn't include a lot of what I do.

I didn't spec it because I want normal cruise about 10x more often than adaptive and I would have been annoyed if you could choose between normal and adaptive with the adaptive option.

    New Battery monitoring software update?

I fear this may be the case. The first thing they have to find is a battery parameter or set of parameters that is/are a pre-indicator and for which they have an accurate enough sensor(s) in the battery to reliably use. I am sure if it was easy it would have been done quickly. IME in motor...

    New Battery monitoring software update?

That is exactly the same as my letter and paperwork but when I asked if this was the new software (given it was the first week in January and the software had been announced to be ready in Q1) the service lady was adamant that was not available yet, just the preparation for it and they had...

    New Battery monitoring software update?

That is what I had done in January though my WRS0 was said to be preparation for battery monitoring

    ARB6 Recall notice UK....

I haven't had the more extreme letter. My first service took place in early January and they kept the car a few days to do some checks and report to Porsche then told me the car was signed off to be returned, they did update some software but told me the monitoring software due in Q1 2025 was...

Thinking of going back to ICE / hybrid - am I mad.

I shan't buy one but it is the only turbocharged car I would ever consider because the turbo with co-axial motor/generator is the only way, yet, to get reasonably low lag from a turbo engine. Having written that AFAIK the only use of such a turbo has been in racing, the MGU-H in Formula 1 is...

    Options I wish I'd ordered

I am the same, I take a long time to decide then keep the car a long time. This technique has only failed me once, and that was partly following other people's advice rather than deciding on my own! I had intended to sell my Prius but kept it because of all the reliability horror stories and do...
