  1. 2027 BMW i3 EV Sedan Revealed (440 Miles Range, 463 HP / 476 LB-FT)

Our previous i4 and current i5 is remarkable given it's now "dated" tech and consistently being well above EPA, even on highway driving. Whatever they are doing with their asynchronous motors, it's easily more efficient than the j1 permanent magnets as I am right at EPA or just slightly higher.
  2. 2027 BMW i3 EV Sedan Revealed (440 Miles Range, 463 HP / 476 LB-FT)

it's a 3 series, don't expect it to be a sexy beast. Functional in design, just like the Neue-Klasse vehicles, E30, and E36 sedans. It's a retro-themed vehicle, and that price point will sell well considering that the i4 makes up a good chunk of 4-series sales ( I believe it outsells the...
  3. Porsche mulling Panamera and Taycan Merger

The "platforms" in Audi-speak isnt a true share, it's more of having commonality in certain points within the structure for an easier "marriage" aka, the point where the front subframe/engine can merge with the structure on the assembly line using similar/same robots, containing manufacturing...
  4. Porsche mulling Panamera and Taycan Merger

In addition to your reply, the Panamera is MSB, the RS7 is MLB, different platforms.
  5. Next gen (second generation) Taycan platform is "locked" and coming late 2027

My guess is: 1) face-lift "J1.3" platform with updated tech from their current PPE platform adopted for the "J" platform. -or- 2) Modified "J" platform variant using parts from the Cayman/Boxster/Concept-C platform, but enlarged for 4-door duty. Panamera is not expected to have a BEV...
  6. Speedometer Discrepancy

It's more prevalent on 21" wheel cars with 265/305 F/R tires, they are shorter in OD than the 20" -or- the J1.2 21" wheels/tires with 245/285 F/R all-season tires with higher sidewalls and similar OD to the 20" wheels. In other words, you get spot on or near spot on speedo readings with the 20"...
  7. ICE Boxster/Cayman will return!!

odd that the insider slide deck presentation they still used the current 718 in the picture (instead of a wrapped up 718-EV) It did mention HEV and BEV for the 718, but honestly don't recall if there was an ICE-only model on that deck. **edit** I'll confirm this Weds evening
  8. Part 3: The Quest for the Perfect Tune

Ah! makes sense. Yeah I completely missunderstood in this case. :tumbleweed:
  9. Part 3: The Quest for the Perfect Tune

When you near the limits of the battery, it becomes less efficient; in general more heat is loss above 90% of it's discharge rate, below that rate, it's relatively stable as long as it has a good battery cooling system. The J1.1's 300a/600a combo are close to maxing out their batteries vs the...
  10. New here, did the dealer launch my car?

The consumption resets after a certain period and starts at 99.9kwh/100miles and adjusts according. Given the small window is was driven, they drove it, and let the car park while still on. Ive driven back/forth from my home to grocery store and back, less than .2 miles, and had higher...
  11. Level 2 charging rate with a 50 amp capacity

50A seeing 9.4kW is normal. You only see 80% of the amperage. (50*.80) x (240v*.001) = 9.6kW To see near 11kW, you will need 60A Even then, you'll likely only see 10.4-10.5kW on a 11kW onboard.
  12. Speedometer Accuracy?

Assuming the same set-up, on the e-tron GT w/21 " wheels, the speedo is off 2-3mph as well. However when I had the standard 20" wheels, the speedo was nearly spot on depending on speed. 20" wheel/tire (OEM) actually has a larger overall OD than the 21" wheel/tire (OEM), by about 20mm.
  13. Audi Concept C EV revealed - thoughts?

as a prior TT-RS (8S) owner, I welcome this concept. Audi has already mentioned it is near production in design, so I would imagine slightly small wheels etc etc (like they did on the e-tron GT concept vs production). and likely low/high beam modules in the vertical outer slats as I imagine the...
  14. Wagon Goes Wild: 2025 Taycan GTS Sport Turismo Instrument Tested Results (Car and Driver)

130mph trap speed is pretty juicy, makes the higher models almost too too fast for the streets. Assuming the GTS sedan would be +1 or +2 mph faster since they are lighter + better aero.
  15. Tested: 2025 Taycan 4 and Taycan Turbo Cross Turismos (Car and Driver)

These are value monsters tuned for sure over the Turbo S or equiv RS-Performance.
  16. Part 3: The Quest for the Perfect Tune

Thank you for confirming that it's just the suspension damping. Question on that 2nd gear/range mode, would it still allow for the extra power if I floor it? The rear motor RPM would just be lower with the ratio being halved vs 1st gear, but wasn't sure if the communication between the modules...
  17. Part 3: The Quest for the Perfect Tune

A few questions from a J1.1 RS E-tron GT guy: 1) in Efficiency mode, it runs in FWD or "on-demand AWD" and always stays in 2nd gear. Will the modified ASG trigger a 1st gear downshift in Efficiency mode if it sends that "LC-mode code" or will it remain in 2nd gear? 2) also reading through and...
  18. Comparison Etron GT facelift with J1.2

The video you link has no car audio reviews or comparisons throughout a wide range of car audio...got it...cool link I suppose about obvious measurements of audio equipments that can simply be googled or youtube'd for that "infamous" flat frequency.
  19. Comparison Etron GT facelift with J1.2

This guy does a fair amount of audio system testing: E-tron GT B&O scored 8.6/10: https://totallyev.net/audi-e-tron-gt-audio-review-bang-olufsen-upgrade/ Taycan Bose scored 8/10: https://totallyev.net/porsche-taycan-bose-audio-review-better-than-burmester/ Taycan Burmester scored 8.4/10...
  20. 2025 RWD vs 2022 RWD Impressions (Long and Nerdy)

Likely because the updated version also has a 2-valve set-up vs a 1-valve set-up on the pre-facelift. So now it can adjust rebound and compression independently.
