Just picked up 2024 4S with performance battery. Driven about 150 miles. At battery capacity of 85% my display says 185 miles max range. Seems a bit weak (thought I would get closer to 270 miles). Does the battery have to be 'worked in' for a while to achieve greater range?

It will improve when regen braking kicks in at around 400-500 miles.

Meant to say...at 100% it should be about 270 miles, at 85% battery should be around 229 miles. I'm only seeing 185. Hopefully after 'break in' range will get better.

As a point of reference, my one year old 2023 Turbo CT is sitting in the garage right now, showing 85% and 193 miles. It goes down when it's colder, up when warmer. Yes, the range guess-o-meter takes a little time to learn how you drive, but in the end your driving patterns will determine the range you see (it can also change a little if you change the drive mode). Personally I never saw 229 miles at 85%, but I drive it like a Porsche, with a heavy right foot. In the summer it shows around 200 miles. The most I ever recall seeing after the initial range at the dealer during delivery was 207 miles at 85%.

I don't think you are having any issue with your battery. Your range will be lower in the winter. If you drive the car calmly, the car will learn and account for it. In my experience, it gets pretty good at estimating actual the range over time.

Keep an eye on your miles/kwh to see how aggressively you are running through your battery. This is a big factor in the range number you are personally seeing.

It took my 2024 performance battery about 750 miles to accurately start predicting range. In addition to the break in period for the mechanicals, it also uses your driving style for range computations.

The 2 stand out factors that I can see.

1) It's February in New Jersey, I am guessing its cold.
2) The car has been driven on and off ships, round the docks, onto trucks and from the workshop to parking lot to showroom etc by people that dont give a sh*t

The guessometer has had no time to work out a meaningful range, no realistic long trips where 270 is perfectly possible especially in summer

It will never be worse than 185 at 85% ever again unless you drive it like Tony Soprano being chased by the Feds (all the time!)

My '21 CT4S is normally around 185 miles at 85%... and I generally drive it really easy... coasting around town for 5-10 miles to drop the kids off before setting the cruising on the highway btw 55 and 70 for a 15 mile commute to the city.

Not sure if it's the extra weight of the hatch or what, but we have a '20 Turbo that seems get an easy 10% more range than my car.

Performance Battery is the lesser of the two options and the Performance Battery Plus has the additional range.

There is no likelihood that you will obtain 270 miles with the standard performancre battery.

If you live in a warm ambient climate then you might expect 220 odds with the standard battery and potentially 270 - 300 miles would be achievable with the plus.

Best range comes after 600 - 800 miles but will be highly variable depending on your driving, ambient, AC usage to name but a few factors.

270 sounds like the WLTP fairytale number.

Based on data shared by Porsche and reviewers so far, what do you predict that ranges for MY25
Taycan and Taycan 4S will be with Performance Plus battery? I can't interpret the MY25 info I have seen.

Again depends very much on the same factors as at present - ambient, use of AC, wheel and tyre size, driving style etc.

My guess (and it is just that) is that it will fall well below the quoted WLTP figures - perhaps by as much as 20%.

Porsche haven't updated the range calculator on the website (I wonder why) which I found to be a useful tool to get pretty close to real world numbers. When that happens you'll have a better and more reliable data point to be able to make a more informed decision.

The max range will come from the base car with 19" wheels and the ugliest aero wheels - not the config that most buyers will choose and so range estimates will already be lower for most (I can already hear the negativity that will beset this forum).

On the positive, range will be better and it's just a question of "by how much?". Personally I think I'll sit this one out and wait for a step change in battery tech sometime around 2027 before replacing - if only to soften the inevitable depreciation hit.

That is surely not far off for the performance battery while the brakes bed in for the first 500 miles or so? I see around 235 miles predicted at 100% at this time of year and I have performance battery plus.
