I want to put a custom build for the Taycan 4S, but want to order it as a 2024 model as I want to get the facelifted version. With all the supply chain issues and slow production/allocation I am assuming I won't get it until 2024 anyway. I am ready to put a deposit now, but how can I ensure I get a 2024 model? If not now, when would be the right time to get in the line? (I am based on the US east coast)

PM me, and I can put you in touch with a SA who'll add you to his Taycan refresh list! He might even be local to you :)

Given the lists are so so long (especially for 4S and above), it couldn't hurt to get on his list now. In fact, I'd strongly recommend it. No deposit until allocation either.

Taycan 4S ST MY24 (since Nov 23)

I placed an order for MY24 of a 4S ST with estimated delivery date of Nov 23 as then my current lease will expire. But I am not at all sure if I will get the "facelift". According to my sales rep he expects that to come later, perhaps even only after the Macan EV (based on the internal training schedule for the different upcoming models that he already knows).
Depending on the news that will emerge during the course of 23 I might still keep my order as it is or intentionally delay it to get the facelift. Based on whether I like what I hear and see about the facelift or not (e.g. changed headlights design).

I would be cautious about ordering a facelift Taycan at the moment.

First, we do not know when the refresh is being released.

Second, the magnitude of any change on the refresh may be cosmetic, significant range increases will affect residuals which I don't think Porsche would want from its loyal customer base, so expect only minor/no changes there

Thirdly, my experience:
Ordered my Turbo May 2022
Told May-November 2023 delivery
Told 4 weeks ago, now scheduled build Feb 2023, delivery March 2023

Much quicker than anticipated, may be model specific of course (more popular models may take longer)

No guarantee that there is a facelift.

MY24 ordering would be July'23 onwards.

FWIW when I ordered mine in the UK, I could specify a 'not before date' on the order sheet - which I used to tailor delivery to match the end of my present car lease.

After a few months, my OPC offered me an earlier allocation, but I politely refused saying to stick with the plan (ie as written on the order sheet).

My OPC was not bothered that I refused since people were queuing up for slots - and he could make someone else's day.

cheers

I've got an order for a MY24 Taycan GTS. The facelift is locked in and will happen, don't worry about that! My dealer confirmed that is what they have been told.

But it is true we don't know what it will bring, I'm optimistic it will be good news on all fronts, and it could go as far as extra range and drivetrain improvements. My reasoning: There is no way that Porsche will let the electric Macan outshine the Taycan, so it has to be upgraded.

Yeah that's normal and they just let you slide your allocation.

100kW gross battery capacity and less battery management overhead all adds up to slightly more range. This is coming from the Macan EV.

No new battery tech, 2025 / 26 will be the advent of the real changes, by which time we will have got bored of the Taycan and gone for either the Cayenne EV or Panamera EV is my guess.

I don't understand why taycans range is so bad. If you compare it to the etron GE (not GT) they have the same battery size and the nearly the same range but the etron GE is an SUV whith much worse aerodynamics. This means that the drive system is not good. It gets more confuesed when you know that taycan have a rotor with permanent magnet, while etron GE is an asynchronus motor which is much less efficient than ther permanent magnet rotors.

This is very helpful and I agree that the facelift would be only minor based on leaks but prices will be going up . I also ordered a MY2023 Turbo in May of 2022 and had no allocation until today (Jan 5, 2023) with March build and May delivery to Indiana. The allocation was close to impossible to get but my dealer was diligent in monitoring any available US allocations and one appeared to be open to trade with Hawaii. I still think there is a long way to go with ongoing supply chain issues (amplifiers, 12V batteries, etc.) and transport (railroad strikes and as we know ships can sink) but cannot be happier to know that someone like myself in Indiana has an allocation (all 8 of fall allocations went to California...assuming celebrity clients).
