911 (991x) wheels on Taycan - works?

new to the forum - appriecate all the great knowledge showcased across a number of threads!

Winter is coming and trying to find out if a set of 20-inch, 991 wheels would fit on the Taycan?
Same bolt pattern and ET measure is only a few milimeters off. I know circumfence will differ slightly due tyre width/height ratio but could live with speedometer over estimating...alternative would be to just buy a new set of tires with Taycan dimensions.
Will they fit or big no no?

My previous cars I used any tire comparison calculator online. Here is one as an example: Tire Size Comparison

Typically I remained around 0.5% difference between stock and the wheel size I want to test. I am not sure on the impact on an EV, but I ran with a 0.6% difference from stock on my previous car for 10 years (AWD drivetrain) with zero issues.

You’re asking two separate questions. First is if the wheels will fit. You need to send over a specific wheel that you’re looking at, otherwise we’re just guessing here. Also there is a big difference between 991 wide body and narrow body cars, I believe only wide body car wheels will fit.

Otherwise I believe some of the wheels may fit, but you’ll want to get close to the original wheel widths and offsets as the Taycan wheels. Assuming same wheel width, if the ET is higher, meaning the wheel face is more pushed in, I wouldn’t risk it, because it may not clear brakes. If it is lower, it probably is fine, as that is the equivalent of running spacers, and people have done 10-15mm spacers on OEM wheels without issue.

One consideration you’ll have to figure out is weight - the Taycan is significantly heavier than the 991, so those wheels may not be rated for the weight of the Taycan. I don’t know if load rating specs are posted for OEM 991 wheels

The other question you have is around tires - you need to make sure the tire overall diameter is in range of the OEM tire diameter, but more importantly you need to make sure that the difference in size between the front and rear is within OEM specs.

Would you be buying new tires or buying this as a wheel/tire set from a 991? I really wouldn’t recommend the latter, the tires are pretty significantly different sizes

Overall I think this is more hassle than it’s worth. Just go buy a new aftermarket cast or flowformed winter wheel instead. Victor Equipment makes decent flowformed wheels for a pretty reasonable price. Some guys on here have purchased the Zuffen wheel for their winter set. Then get tires that are OEM spec if you’re just looking to have a winter set, and it’ll be guaranteed to fit

Indeed 2 sets of questions.
Did some investigations this afternoon and the follwoing applies:
The rims will fit and will stand the added weight; ET difference will only off-set (furter out) a few milimeters both in the front and the back.

Tires, are different chapter, the OEM 911 tires are are not even close to be rated for the Taycan weight. Need to buy a new set anyways.

Reason for asking is that I kept my winter wheels when swapping my 991.1C4S for a 992C4S and they been sitting in the garage since. Would be fun to make some use of them again.
Got a new set of 21" winter tires along with the Taycan, but no rims. I might just shift them on the rims I have for the summer tires.

The tires and wheels from a narrow body 991 will fit depending on which brakes you have and which wheels, however, the Carrera is a 4,000lb car, and the Taycan is upwards of 5100 - 6300lbs (CT) gross weight.

A lot of owners maybe swapping wheels from other vehicles, but really not paying attention to a wheel's load rating. Check with the wheel to make sure it can handle the weight.

In my situation for the Cross Turismo, I'd be looking at least a 845 kg/wheel load rating (roughly 1700lbs x 4 = 6800lbs) to handle the CT.

I like to keep a log of all my wheel sizes, tires, OD etc since I swap out wheels often on my cars Here are some specs to compare.

2013 Carrera S Stock Wheels
20x8.5 +46 (5mm spacer) 245/35
20x11 +65 (5mm spacer) 295/30

2015 Carrera S Sports Techno
F: 20x9 +51 (245/35)
R: 20x11.5 +68 (305/30)

Did anybody think about wheels from cayenne? 958 for example. As I see ET there is 50, comparing with ~60 of taycan's its not so big difference
Moreover weight of cayenne is not less than taycan's
But I never seen photos with cayenne's wheels on taycan

The ones I like the look of best are exactly the same as some others but Matt black (I don’t like machined highlights where the machining marks show) and was told they would have to check if they would void warranty because they are supposed to only be available for the GTS.

I am beginning to think somebody there is a pissed off Nigel Mansell fan and didn’t like what I said in the Williams film

That is probably the most ridiculous thing I've heard (from a dealer) regarding wheels and warranties. Utter tosh.

Luckily there are other dealerships out there and so if you haven't lost the will to live (yet) I'd phone around.

More news on this, the sales executive has emailed me to say they will get the ones I like the look of, as I had expected when I went in.
I shall order them as soon as I know when the car can be picked up.
