Hi all. Owned My 22 CT4S for five months, driven carefully and tyre pressures as per book, generally driven in normal and sport modes. Just gone to go to work and offside front tyre completely flat. Tried to add air but seems like a split on the inner side (based on hissing and air I can feel escaping), tyres are Goodyears with around 5mm tread. No idea how old but I’ve only put on 4k miles since purchase from a Porsche OPC.
- I’m about to call Porsche recovery who I guess will likely take to a OPC some 15 miles away.
- I assume I’ll need both fronts replaced (and rears checked). Am I likely to get fleeced by having the tyres replaced there?
- Ihave a Porsche warranty and obvs unhappy that this has occurred after so few miles. Any tips on that conversation?
- I was thinking of going to Michelins at some point. Is it feasible to get the fronts replaced now and rears at a later date?
- is there a more intelligent and cost effective approach to this problem?

thanks for any thoughts or advice Appreciated. Shredding tyres at this rate (for no good reason) is the only worry I have with owning this car and after reading a few recent threads on here, Lo and behold it seems to be happening to me now!

Tires are generally not covered unless you have the tire and wheel insurance policy. One thing to consider is that you appear to have a catastrophic failure and that is usually caused by a pothole hit at fairly high speed, although low speed pothole damage is certainly possible.

I had the same problem with a pothole on the freeway a few weeks ago and brought it into the dealer and got both front tires replaced. The wire level was in the same range as yours. I’m also filing for repair reimbursement from the state since the pothole was on their highway.

Thanks for the responses. So after a lot of faffing around I eventually opted for my trusted garage to remove the wheel and send for replacement since Porsche recovery couldn’t collect the car until 12 hours later. it Wasn’t a split rather a hole on the inner sidewall so both will be replaced. Annoying as both have a measured 5-6mm of tread left. I’ve hit potholes in previous cars but nothing at all significant in this. It’s normally nearide wheels annd tyres in the UK that are vulnerable. Either way, an expensive morning.

After a bad pothole wrecked two tyres I was taken to ATS tyres. I was shocked at the price which was more than 20% higher than if I had got them from ATS online / delivered to the ATS tyre place. I complained to ATS HQ and got nowhere ‘online prices are cheaper they say’. Ripped off. Never again.

Hmm my Porsche center in NL quoted me about 2k for 1 set of NF0 Michelin pilot sport 4.
Garage around the corner quoted 1100, same tires.

Too bad that your tires and morning are wrecked, happy that it did not occur while driving.
Are you going to replace all tires? Or at least match the back tires?

Replaced both fronts to match the rears. Not quite so concerned since it was a hole rather than a split. easier to stay with the Goodyears for now.
