Hi All,
Sorry for yet another question on this topic but I have read the forum extensively and can't find a specific answer(s)!
I want to hard wire a dashcam to my Taycan 4S (Dec 2021). I have read 100's of posts regarding 12V battery issues, especially with parking mode activated on the dash cam so decided to call Porsche for their comments.
They weren't particularly helpful but the person i spoke with told me that anything hard wired to the fuse board would require reprogramming of the car as the load had changed - she actually reckoned there was one in for that exact reason as she spoke.
I found this hard to believe and see know mention anywhere on the net showing examples of this. So my questions:
Anyone ever heard of a requirement to re-program?! Or put another way, has anyone ever fitted one and caused issues with the PCM?
Have people installed a dash cam with park mode with no issues? (i am presuming a massive yes!)
What precautions should be taken to ensure no flat battery? Low voltage detection I presume? I notice that Porsche dashcams are shut off when the battery hits 13V - finding a controller to do this is proving difficult - most are 12.5V max with the majority below 12V.
Which specific fuse have people tapped? I guess something "none critical"
I am seriously considering a simple wire to an ACC outlet and foregoing the park monitoring to be safe!
Thanks all
