Took another trip to Pa, had a couple interesting things happen along the way. I never had to wait to charge anywhere.

Going north on I95:
Stopped 3 times to charge including a hotel on the way up
  • Left the house with only a 60% SOC and stopped at EA in Pooler, Ga - 57.2 kWh ($0.56/kWh)
  • Buc-ee’s in Florence, SC - $36.04, failed to check how expensive/kWh. Buc-ee’s does that to you!
  • EA at a Sheetz in Rocky Mount, NC - 59.9 kWh ($0.56 kWh)
  • The Rose Gaming Casino in Dumfries, Va that had free level 2 charging in a covered parking lot with 24 hr security. Outstanding place to stay!

While in Pa:
Charged at:
Failed to get per kWh charge again because I was shooting the breeze with others charging. Almost 3 years of Taycan ownership and I’m still playing 20 questions almost every time I stop to charge, especially at Tesla Superchargers!
  • Tesla supercharger in Ephrata, Pa $28.93
  • Tesla supercharger in Quakertown $30.93 This station had something I had not seen before, 4 EA terminals were being installed next to the Tesla Superchargers, they were not yet operational, but appeared close to opening. Anyone seen anything like this before?

Going South on I95:
  • Stopped at an EVgo south of Washington DC and had some issues. The first location had 2 terminals with the one I was using named AYMAN. I got a fail with a failed payment method at the first attempt. Another car was using the second terminal, he saw I was having issues and said he was finished charging, so I moved to the terminal he had been using and again got a fail with the same fault. I called customer support, got a very helpful person and they reset station, unfortunately it failed again. I tried again using a different credit card, failed again.
  • She directed me to another station a short distance away, PICASSO. Unfortunately, with the same results. Another helpful person completed the same troubleshooting as before, but nothing helped. I’ve e-mailed EVgo and they promptly answered and are looking into what happened. I previously have charged successfully a number of times at different EVgo locations, so hopefully this was a one-off.
  • Found an EA in Fairfax to charge - 57.7 kWh ($0.56/kWh)
  • Pilot Flying J in Skippers, Va - 17.6 kWh ($0.55 kWh) just enough to reach hotel in Lumberton, NC where last December I got free level 2 charging. Guess what, now they are charging for level 2 overnight. Went from 9% SOC to 100% and cost me an additional $30, not bad, but every hotel I have stayed at before this had free level 2 charging.
  • Tesla Supercharger in Ridgeland, Ga. $35.67. Again too much talking with others to document charge per kWh.
Final Thoughts:
Not sure what it is with BMW folks not knowing how to park, but in Ridgeland another one talking up 2 spots parked diagonally while charging. Luckily the site was not too busy, but come on folks, be better than that!

Been stated before here that many charging terminals are not covered while it seems every gas pump is.

My 2024 Taycan CT is a great cruiser, 34,000 miles and no issues except it’s easy to find yourself going 80+ if not careful and range will take a hit. Staying around the speed limit gives 255 or so miles while the faster speeds is closer to 225/230. I don’t care anymore because chargers along I95 are so prevalent and now that we have access to Tesla Superchargers, there’s no range anxiety for me any longer. Still can’t believe how many looks the car gets when on the road.
