Hi

I'm in need of changing my tire. And it appears Costco only have Michelin Pilot Sports 4S instead of the OEM Pirelli PZ4. I looked it up and it seems that according to tire rack, Michelin has slightly better road performance with slightly louder road noise and about 5% less range/efficient compare to the Pirelli designed for EV.

Just wondering if anyone use Michelin on your car and do you feel any actual difference?

i much prefer ps4s over pzero. yes, there's a difference.
Could you elaborate? Since you mentioned you much prefer ps4s, I'm assuming you meant the handling is way better and noise/efficiency is barely noticeable?

yes, handling is better. noise/efficiency didn't bother me.

I put the PS4S on about 2 months ago and noticed some differences right away. The previous tire was the Continental all seasons from Porsche, they had 16k miles on them. Obv going from a heavily worn tire to a brand new tire there will be noticeable differences. Noise was a little better with the PS4S and the grip was way better but that should be the case with a new tire. Most noticeable was the handling when punching it. The car would drift both right and left when hard accelerating. Before it was purely straight and with the new tires it drifted, needing correction. Now that I have about 1500 miles on the new tires, it has gotten better. That's the problem with comparing tires on one car. You're usually comparing worn tires with new tires, not apples to apples...

I've had them in 22" on my previous EV SUV, I liked them, good grip (when at temperature) and they will last long.
They do get a bit noisy as the tread wears down and get hard as a rock when temp goes below freezing, but that's to be expected from a summer performance tire.

I use PS4S on my R35 GTR for road use, my guess is they are soft on the sidewall compared to the PZero I have on my Taycan.

If you are not cornering hard they should be OK.

Depends how you like to drive your car.

My GTR has 1250 BHP, PS4S are no good on track, so it is all about how you drive.

I bought the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S for our GTS at 17,000 miles. Much prefer them over the Pirelli PZeros that came with the car. We have 21” Spyder wheels. They are quieter, handle well in wet and dry. They are not NO rated but bought them from our Porsche service center at Tire Rack price. Good to get an alignment when you replace your original tires. Very happy with the decision.

I have put Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires on both my 2020 Taycan 4S and my 997.2.
I have used them since they were first available.
I agree that they get noisy as the tread wears, and they are indeed hard as a rock below 40 degrees F.
Nevertheless, I prefer them over Conti's and Pirelli's
I would love to find a quieter tire for the Taycan, since other than tire roar, it's a very quiet car.

Yes, the difference is notable against the original Pirelli, mainly on grip and performance in wet, in both is superior, way superior. Probably is noisier in the cabin but nothing too bad.

I run them as well, dealer complains about not being NO rated but they’re superior in wet for sure and I don’t notice the noise difference some others do

16k? Nice. I have to change my P4, and I was just shy of 10k. I literally drive so slow.. It's concerning. I'm thinking of making the same switch as this person, but to the Continentals. (Sorry if there are typos I don't have my glasses on).
