Hi … I am the proud owner of a new Frozen Blue Cross Turismo having survived a three-year lease of a Jaguar I-Pace with its frustrating technology/satnav and defo old mannish styling.
I LOVE the Porsche but am puzzled about the My Porsche app and the pre conditioning. Firstly, the I-Pace had a departure time on its app so yes, the car was thoroughly warmed by a set time. Is the timer on the My Porsche a departure time AND is there any way of getting the seat heater and steering wheel to come on via the app?
Also the locking system seems to have a mind of its own - sometimes when I press the handle the car locks AND the mirrors fold in and other times the mirrors stay put. I am obviously missing a trick somewhere…..
it’s obviously a voyage of discovery but thus far, I am smitten by its looks and performance, Defo a head-turner.

If you thought the tech on the ipace was frustrating prepare to be underwhelmed. Taycan is an amazing car. Tech, less so.

1. Download the Porsche Good To Know App and follow the various guides - MUST DO action - to get acquainted. Your dealer should have run through the basics at handover. If not sign up for a Master Class.

2. Preconditioning has nothing to do with preheat/cool. This relates to Battery conditioning and is controlled when navigating to a.charging location recognised as such in the Navigation system.

3. The My Porsche App will let you perform a climate control of the car interior with preheat / cool using a departure timer (can also be set in the PCM). This will use the AC and electric seat heating and steering wheel heating where fitted to perform this task

Yes, timers that you set in the app or in the PCM are effectively departure schedules.

When you turn on heating/cooling either remotely or through a timer, it will automatically turn on the seat and steering wheel heaters too if needed. There is however no way to only activate e.g. the steering wheel heater remotely.

Not currently but then no logic either in being able to do so. If you need to heat the car then logically the wheel will be cold so heat that too.

Really there is no way to turn on specifically steering wheel or seat heater remote only rather than the whole system???

Strangely in the old Connect app it was possible to edit settings in Cabin Pre-Configure for the Hybrid Cayenne. Was fairly simple in that you could pick which seat heaters powered on and if you selected the drivers seat the steering wheel also came on

Its not possible to do this in the new MyPorsche App .. another example of reduced functionality in the MyPorsche App

I wouldn’t worry that you cant turn on the heated steering wheel. I can feel it starting to warm after less that 1 minute, so there wouldn’t be much advantage to pre heating it

yeah, I got it, But what I mean is that what if I just want my hand or back to get heat. I usually travel with my friend and family they always keep ac at very cold temperatures and I am the person who wants normal weather not too hot not too cold. I can't just turn on the heater while they want cold.. so I was wondering is there a trick to just heat the steering or seat.

I know about the old series app, i was really nice and easy to access but this new series there is no feature like this, that why i am in search of this

There is if you look.

Tap your car picture after the app has loaded and then functions and you'll get various options including preheat/cool.

Can also be set with a timer if needed

I thought the I Pace was amazing & in my almost 3 years of ownership had almost zero issues. Taycan in less than a year lots of PCM issues & recalls!

Your dealer should have an IT expert to help you mine did. There are some early frustrations but you will work through them. And Yah! Yes they have the fix for the alarm issues fingers crossed they will fix my issue on Saturday

I talked to one friend of mine, he said will help me out it with, thanks to all who tried to help me out....

Sometimes you need to delete and reinstall the app.

Interesting…maybe it was just the one I had! I found it the techie stuff quite complicated but there again ….?
