I have a '22 GTS sedan. From day one 100% battery yielded 240-242 miles of range. Not great but workable because of how awesome the driving dynamics are on the GTS Taycan. For context the car currently has 23,000 miles. For the first 3 years I've owned the car I didn't really notice any battery degradation, then one day a month or two ago I noticed when I charged to 85% I was getting significantly less miles of range. 85% didn't even get me over 200 miles of range. 70% charge gets me 155 miles of range. I had to take a long trip so I charged to 100% and the range was 218 miles.

This is my first EV so I guess my question is does this happen overnight? I know that batteries degrade over time it was just a little shocking to lose so much overnight. Is that normal? Thanks in advance.

Did temperature outside drop? Lower temps

Did your driving style change? Driving faster will decrease range.

Did you change wheels? 21 inch result in lower range. Did you change tires? Winter tires lower range

did the geography of your daily drive change? More uphills?

did your cabin heating habits change?

Some degradation is normal over the years, as much as 10-15% in 3 years is not great not horrible. After the initial 10% degradation, degradation slows down a lot

my 5 year old 2020 still gives me real 360-380km in winter at -8 to 0 degree Celsius. And 420-450km in summer

My 2021 CT4 did the same I believe about two weeks ago. I normally get 240m of range and about 200 in the uk winters but just before I got the letter from Porsche informing me they need to monitor my battery my range dropped to 190m and it wasn’t that cold. ?‍♂

@LotusPhil, this to me would indicate that battery cells may be going bad. I would strongly recommend getting an OBD with CarScanner app, get a read out on the cell voltages and charge levels and then doing a rebalance. The worst case is that you get Red Circle of death and then you can only flatbed the car. We have 2 extensive threads on the forum that cover both topics on how to do it. Let us know if you need help with it.

I am getting CPO soon. I saw on other thread that you had replaced 2 battery modules due to bad battery cells. How did you notice in the first place? Any recommendations/tips in checking the condition of battery cells?

I may have been the one you are referring to. I had 2 battery cells replaced when I noticed a significant drop in my range. It was quite a bit of work to convince the dealer that something was wrong. @SergeyIndy is spot on that you should get an OBD reader and take the car down to below 10% charge and let it sit overnight. If there is a bad cell, it should show up. @DirtyPop range drop is only about 10%, so this could be due to a number of other things such as colder weather, a change in tires, or if you take a long trip at relatively high speed your estimated mileage will drop significantly because the software uses your most recent drives to calculate estimated range, and a long trip at high speed is 'worst case' in terms of range (vs lower speed driving).

@LotusPhil - if your range dropped from 240 to 190 without significant a temperature drop or a change in your driving, then you almost certainly have a bad cell(s). Again, you may be able to see this with an OBD reader if you discharge to below 10% and check your cell voltages.

Thanks Vim. My buddy has an OBD reader. I will do what you say and see whats up. It just seemed very sudden with zero changes in temp or drive history. I got new tires about 2 months prior to the sudden drop in range so I don't think that is it. We will see. Thanks again!

Sorry I am very new to this. I am buying an OBD reader. Does any of the OBD on Amazon support Taycan plug? Is there a specific plug/connection that I should be looking?

Ah you mean like this… I’ve had two screens like that in the last year… By the time the breakdown service arrived the fault cleared

You need to show this picture to service, and they need to check the battery cells. They CANNOT simply send the car back without diagnosing and correcting this problem. You'll probably have to escalate and deal with a fair amount of BS.:mad:
