BT/CarPlay connection suddenly faster

I’ve had a 22 4S CT for just over a year now and one of the more annoying aspects is the indeterminant amount of time it would take my phone to connect to the car. sometimes it was fast, sometimes it would take a minute or 2 to finally connect and launch CarPlay.

About 3-4 weeks ago, it’s now connecting instantly every time.

Anyone else experience this? I haven’t done any PCM updates, so I’m guessing maybe something in iOS 17 if iPhone 15 maybe? Or a background PCM update (i certainly haven’t participated in an OTA update recently and it hasn’t been to dealership)

Does it start fast when you first thing in the morning or just during the day?

Restarts during the day are typically fast.

I noticed similar behavior. My impression was that some update (either PCM or iOS) added some code to do whatever needed to connect CarPlay ASAP. In the past if I disabled Carplay on my phone so I can connect to WiFi dashcam, when I re-enabled it I often had to hit the CarPlay button on the PCM to reconnect, today is reconnects very quickly automatically. Also CarPlay connects very quickly and reliably every time I get in the car.

Yeah it was often faster in the afternoon, but not always. Now it seems consistently faster even in morning

I agree, same for me and same timing. Also now rememeber more often (still not every time) if I was last listening to radio or podcast/music.

Funny. I have a ‘20 Turbo S in the shop. Porsche gave me a new ‘24 loaner. CarPlay comes up on this loaner instantly. Like start car, engaged before garage door open.

I mentioned it to my service rep and they are upgrading the software on the PCM before getting the car back to me.

should get it back Tuesday, will report back.

I often feel slower in the afternoon unless I’ve had a nap after lunch ?

Glad it’s not just me and not a fluke. It was one of the few annoyances I’ve had living with the car as a daily.

Hopefully this is a trend. I like where they are going with the Porsche app in CarPlay, as roundabout as it is…

Got my car back from the shop, CarPlay now starting near instantly. It’s wonderful.
