I’ve got the my Porsche widget on my iPhone Home Screen. So whenever I unlock my phone, it’s there. And it refreshes.

Recently I’ve started getting 12v battery low warnings, and the dreaded “electrical system fault” while driving (car does seem to keep working when I turn it off and on).

Could the two be related? Could that widget refresh the data from the care and “wake” it, causing the 12v battery to drain?

Or does the widgets only ever communicate with Porsche servers and simply report what’s there, and is the refresh from the car decoupled from the app (that’s how I would build it, but they’ve made more peculiar decisions so who knows)?

Anyone have any insights here?

Good question, never really thought about that possibility. I have the widget too however as far as I know the app will only refresh and communicate with the car if you open the app up and swipe down, sometimes taking several attempts to do so.

I swiped down in my app about 5 mins ago and refreshed the data from the car. Left it for a bit then looked at the iPhone widget and it says at the top right '6 mins ago'

So I think it only communicates with the car after a refresh requiring manual/human action. But I could be wrong!

The widget shows the status of the vehicle the last time you actually opened it.

That’s not the whole story, because I hardly ever open the app, and the widget is always up to date.
