Cell-signal boost in 2025 Taycan?

Does anyone know (or have an educated opinion about) whether the 2025 Taycan includes the built-in connections to internal and external cellular antennnas? Apparently some earlier models did. See https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/t...tion-in-taycan-any-solutions.5858/#post-81302.

I'm debating whether to order the noise- and thermally insulated glass. I've tried to research whether that attenuates the cellular signal and found another large muddled assortment of answers. Does anyone have any actual data or solid information on this?

Finally, does anyone know of a cell-signal booster that does not require mounting an external antenna?

Did you find a solution? I have 25 Taycan with insulated windows and it blocks/weakens the cell signal a lot. My phone is almost unusable! I tried keeping phone in the trunk and it works much better but it's not practical

Wow, sorry to hear that. I ended up skipping the insulated glass precisely for the reason you're citing. And reception is fine. Maybe it would have been quieter with the insulated glass, but it's plenty quiet without it (not to rub it in). I'm not sure what your options are now. There is such a thing as a signal booster, and there are external antennas you can mount on your roof. I researched all that but chucked the findings after I made my decision. It would help the group if you'd post an account of how you proceed from here. Hope you find a satisfactory answer. Dan

Thanks, I'll take a look. I called Porsche today and they said they had never heard of this issue

I just signed up for the car Wi-Fi to see if iPhone Wi-Fi calling helps with the signal issue... but it's $20/month

Wifi calling didn’t help me. Even with full WiFi signal and WiFi calling enabled on the phone, I lose signal. Too bad there is no other solution. Porsche said they never heard of this issue!!

It’s a mystery how to “force” WiFi calling on the iPhone. Here is what I have set up in case it’s helpful.
1. WiFi calling and prefer WiFi while roaming both turned on (in Cellular settings)
2. WiFi Assist turned off (in Cellular settings)

I’ve been more focused on data (ie for google maps) vs phone calls so I’ll do some more phone experiments in the next few days.

The counter point is how superb this option is in making the Taycan super quiet, rejecting IR and keeping the car cool in the burning sun. Not a gimmick.

I went from single pane glass with tint to no tint at all in a short term rental (shockingly unbearable), and then to the Taycan's dual pane with moderate tint, and it is hands down the winner.

While the signal loss for me is a bummer in some areas, I agree with you that the thermal/insulated glass option is really effective at creating a more comfortable super quiet ride. I had a 2020 T4S for 5 years without the thermal/insulated glass and now have a 2025 with it. I think on balance I'd go for the thermal/insulated glass option again even with the cell coverage attenuation in my use case - but my poor coverage areas have become dead zones. Using the car's wifi hotspot workaround gets me pretty much back to "normal" cell coverage.

But as soon as I connect my phone to car’s hotspot WiFi, I get attached message when I try to make a call. I do have internet on the phone through car’s WiFi but the error says I don’t!

Great test of whether the hotspot works for voice. I wonder if Porsche hotspots block wifi calling (ie SIP)! That would be a drag. I have been more focused on data so haven't really done much experimenting with voice calling on the hotspot. I'll try it and report back. I'll also try voice on WhatsApp and google voice since those use different protocols to see if they work. If Porsche blocks iPhone/Verizon wifi calls by blocking SIP I'm not sure how to overcome that. Argh.

You're absolutely right, seems like Verizon hotspot is blocking the VOIP ports. I tried FaceTime audio calls with no cell signal, it went through just fine over the wifi/hotspot. I just cancelled the data service, it's not working for me, so waste of money. Not sure how this setup is working for the OP for wifi calling.

I am now researching a low profile external antenna that may work. Does anyone have any suggestions?
