So, my car went back to Porsche Colchester for a left charging port fault a couple of months back. Same left port now say faulty again but this time it pings up all the time, like every couple of minutes, really annoying. Last time it only came up every now and again, and just the once.

When it was fixed i didn’t pay for it as a company car ( I spec’d and owned the car since new) but now I’ve bought it so will have to pay if they say a different issue…

What are the common issues on the charging ports? I’d like to think they will honour the issue and not charge me but I guess if it’s a different issue they are within their

rights to charge me..

It’s annoying as got my inspection in a couple of week to get Porsche warrenty back on it and obviously it will fail if showing a charging port error so need to get sorted asap.

I would just mention that it has failed in the past and fixed under warranty and see how it goes from there.

Do you have the powered charge port doors?

My left port gets stuck and only closes 1/2 way. This causes my display to say "Error in right charging port" and will stay that way until I can get the left side closed +1 key cycle.

I believe the reason the message is saying "right" when "left" is the broken one, is because you can't open both ports at the same time. So, the error message is both correct and confusing.

I am going to try and have them fix the sticky closing port next week.

No, manual flaps.

That’s the plan. Just the unknown path it may travel.

No, manual flaps.
Do the manual flaps lock when closed, like if the doors are locked?

if yes, I would examine your right flap to see if there’s a problem. Sounds backwards, but that’s how the powered ones display the error.

interesting - I have the same strange problem.

Each time I’ve had to leave the car to sleep for a while, then on restarting push the down button on dash, hold the door with my hand, then it does a full reset. There is a YouTube video of this procedure somewhere.

the message about right port seems like a bug. On my J1 Taycan it correctly named the door that was stuck, but now on my J1.2 it is mixing up left and right.

It doesn't have to sleep, just can't try the close again for a few minutes. I'll drive 5-10 minutes to where I'm going and can do the reset upon arrival.
Also, you can swipe to do the forced close, doesn't have to be the dash button.

Will have a look tomorrow and check the locking mechanisms. Funnily enough when emailing the dealer they suggested it may be a fault with the others side which would be very annoying. Pretty sure I’ve had a port done a couple of years back but can’t remember which one.

I’ve not actually tried charging on the left port showing a fault so will plug next time I charge and see what happens..
