As an alternative option, I put the black wrap on to leave the spokes in silver

You really transformed those wheels. Just goes to show a small change in colour proportions makes all the difference.

Id happily order the 19's and do this mod, but I doubt the company car insurance would like it ?

Just the kind of thing they could use to avoid paying up the claim.

Honestly a UK insurer could say, we don't allow mods, thats a mod, claim invalid.

Especially as mine wouldn't be a personal policy and one provided by the lease company.

Crazy I know!

To add, my maintenance pack will include tyres, but specifically NOT winter tyres. I would not be insured if I put winters on. Something making you SAFER to both yourself and other road users, is not allowed.

Thanks 4sCT21

I'm sure that it would be considered as a protective film rather than a modification though.

I did this nearly 4 years ago. My car goes back next month. I'll be sad to see it go.

I do have a private reg that will come up for sale and I also bought some mission E (black and white) wheels that will also come up for sale shortly.

PM me for details, if anyone is interested.

Some class PPF etc as a mod as it will cost them more to replace in case of an accident. People have run into issues, obviously it would depend on the insurers.

So I've picked up a used (refurbished) set of S Aero's, off the usual well known auction site.

I'm going to give wrapping the spokes a go.

I ended up with a personal car (rather than through work), so I'm happy to modify the aesthetics of the spare set, given they can easily be returned to stock.

I deliberately got a set without tyres, as I didn't want the hassle of removing them, and will put a fresh set of winter tyres on, later in the year.

Got no idea what I'm doing, other than to steal my wife's old hair dryer, make a cardboard template of the spoke and not to swear nonstop when I get it wrong ?

I forgot to add, to anyone who has done this, how much wrap do you need?

I'm assuming I'll need a degreaser to use beforehand.

Well the refurbished used wheels turned up today. These must be a nightmare to look after as they show every mark etc on those polished surfaces.

Now let's see what my creative skills are like ?

First real attempt with vinyl wrap.
I've got the hang of it now using knifeless tape and a template.
I'm sure others have made a better job of it, but it will do for me ?
Ah, vinyl, that explains it. I went with Plastidip, which is much easier to apply on all rims at once, after protecting the not-to-be-painted areas. Vinyl is much harder to install indeed.

I was looking at plastidip, but tossed a coin, and went for vinyl.

I think because it's cold outside and my garage is not that big to paint in ?

I've got plenty of vinyl to redo them if needs be.

The next 2 won't take anytime to do.

how well has that lasted - I think it went on 8 or 9 months ago?
