I had a similar decision as you last year (in fact I picked up my Volcano Grey CT4 a year ago tomorrow!).

I chose the CT4 over the CT4s as wanted a higher spec of options and thought the 4 would suffice. It did and I liked it but I did then get the what ifs.....

IF I had my time again, I wouldn't have gone Volcano. I have always had grey/dark coloured cars and went with my usual, really liked the look of it etc. However, it just didn't give off the angles right and don't think it suited it as well as some colours. I'd probably still stick at a 4 despite knowing I would have preferred a 4s but funds and options made my decision

I swapped it 6 months later for an ex-demo Ice Grey ST GTS. Adore the colour and lighter ones stand out really well. I didn't like Ice grey at the time I ordered mine but love it now.

Good luck with your choice

Good tips. I like ice grey too. Had one for a test drive but my wife isn’t a fan…

So I had specced up my perfect CT4 and then made the mistake at looking at the nearly new ones. There is this : PS6JUK27 available that is a CT4S and has a tonne more options that I would put in the nice to have column (soft close doors, passenger display etc) that I would not spec. This car works about £100 per month less than the new one that I specced.

It’s jet black which is not a colour I would have chosen (was heading Volcano) and has the offroad design wheels whereas I was heading for the 20inch aero design. These wheels with the off road pack (which I had not specced but again comes on this) make it look pretty cool but quite different.

Do I save the £100 a month and a get a 3 month old car that is not quite right colour but is objectively a better car? 4S being the key feature here….

4S for less money than a 4? - no brainer. I looks like a great spec, too.

3 month old ex demo but not quite the Colour I want and 2nd choice wheels but the 4s performance plus loads of other toys to play with seem to me to suggest this is the way to go…

- with the added benefit you'd be in the car in a few days, not waiting months for it to be built.

normally that would be a massive bonus. However, I need my current Q7 for a family ski trip in December and I don’t want to take the Taycan. Might just have to have both for a few weeks and then sell the Q7 in January.

I would imagine the dealer would hold it for you for a few weeks with a suitable deposit paid.

A definite no brainer - I get you re: colour an wheels but getting a better spec car and a higher model. You mention yourself the additional options it has

Wheels can be swapped easily enough if you wanted to.

I couldn't have bought my GTS new (and on I'd spec myself to be fair) but was able to get an ex-demo and I didn't really want ice grey but was happy to give it a go - mine had a stupid amount of options and some ones that I wouldn't spec even if I could have afforded it. Best thing I ever did though and love it.

Pushed the button. Car bought and just waiting to go through the finance process. A very nice early Christmas present!

Only thing I really want to change is that it comes with the lit up Porsche logo in red on the rear. I guess I’ll see what its like when I get it but I would really like to take that off and just have the normal Porsche logo.. Hopefully that’s possible as I think the simple red line looks a lot nicer personally
