If you have 1 min at some point, can I please ask you a wider angle picture of where you put the wd-40? Not sure I can understand from the original photo

I just sprayed into where the latch is (middle of bumper) and also wiped WD-40 around the latch itself in the centre of the trunk lid.

I can take a picture but its pretty obvious where to spray.

It may be that this won't cure your issue and may be due to something else.
