I wish I had the electric charge port cover.

Reasons:

1. I hate it when I unplug, get in the car, and realize I forgot to close the damn port!
2. I hate getting fingerprints on it when it's clean.
Thankfully I remember to close it just like a ICE car's fuel door. ;)
PPF protects against fingerprints - or shut carefully.

I am spoiled by the wife's Tesla which closes itself :) I'm getting better.

I do have PPF, still gets prints. I am pretty fastidious though :)

I'm about to place an order for a Taycan 4S (which I will probably get sometime in 2022). I would appreciate some advice on the E-mobility options. Specifically:

1. Do I need a "power charge-port cover" what's the alternative? No cover? A manually operated cover?

2. Is there much value to the "Mobile Charger Connect"? I'm inclined to skip it.

3. Is there any value in the "Intelligent Range Manager"? I'm inclined to skip it.

4. Can these options be changed after delivery of the vehicle (for a fee of course)?

The only option I currently have checked is the 150kW DC charger. There are 150kW charging stations along roads I will be driving and I'd like to use them.

1--No, I would skip it. Manual is more reliable.

2--No, again you don't need it. You can install a cheaper alternative in your garage like the Tesla Gen. 3 wall charger at $500 and buy a TeslaTap adapter for $300 which would be handy for road trips.

3--Absolutely yes. $300 bucks is nothing in the scheme of things and I found it useful as hell on a recent road trip.

4--Yes, you can add all these later, except for item 1, but I would just cut to the chase and order #3 with your configuration and skip the rest.

I have used both and would NOT spec this. Cool? Yes. Annoying to open? YES!! The normal manual covers are much easier in daily use. Standing in the rain whilst sliding your finger across the touchy thing with nothing opening will annoy very quickly.
Interesting, because that is the reason I really like the "power charge-port cover" since it gives you a button on the inside to open/close them, when it is raining or when the car is really dirty.

I haven’t had any issues with the power charge port covers. There were reports in another thread regarding issues with the manual covers too so I would not base the decision on reliability. The power charge port covers fit in with the futuristic image of the car just like the door handles that come out to greet you.
