From the many people I've talked to at these chargers, very few even understand the concept of charging and their cars don't guide them the way a Tesla does.
It's a recipe for disaster for public charging.
Yes, so many newbies treat it like gas and go to 100%.

Most Socal EA stations has crazy lines, very challenging to charge there during daytime

Sadly, some people who buy EVs don't have the mental capacity, nor the attention span, nor willingness to even listen, to learn about charging.

I was at a charger last summer where there were 2 available stations, one of which was taken up by a Bolt with a family that decided to make a picnic out of it - they were planning to charge to 100% and they must have already learned from prior experiences that it takes a while to go to 100% because they brought kids, camping gear, tables and chairs, and food to eat. I was 3rd in line, behind a Polestar and an F150, we all charged what we needed, the Bolt was still there (somewhere in 90-some % SoC) when I left, with other people waiting behind me. The family seemed completely oblivious to the fact that every person who got in line came to check on their SoC, and that nobody else charged to 100%. I don't remember if they were charging for free or not.

Another time I came across a Mustang charging on a 350kW charger, while blocking another 150kW stall. I came up and asked them about it, they mentioned that they are blocking the 2 stalls only because there was another car there when they arrived parked across 2 spaces, and offered to move. I asked them whether they could move to the 150kW stall, given their car will not charge any faster (they were pulling ~130kW from the 350kW charger IIRC), but they countered that their dealer told them to plug into the fastest DC charger they can find, that it's better for the car. So while they were nice and reparked their car to allow me to charge, the misinformation by the dealer caused them to hog a 350kW stall for no reason. Was the dealer lying? I honestly doubt it, most likely simply another misinformed car sales guy spreading misinformation , it's not like we haven't see Porsche SA's spreading all kinds of bullshit information that made sense in their heads but was completely untrue.

EV charging is unfortunately too complex of a subject for an average person to understand. Given the US society IQ is actually been dropping lately, it's not going to get any better. US society has also become less considerate of others, people have become so much more self-centered. I personally blame overconsumption of social media for all of the above, but that's a whole different topic for a whole different thread (or forum). The only solution for EVs is to have all EVs charge ultra fast to 100%, make it work like filling up gas. I think it would be worth to sacrifice reliability of EVs to do that, perhaps informed owners will disconnect at 80%, but the uneducated masses will just charge to 100% at the cost of their battery wearing out faster.
