I picked up my 2023 CT4 2 weeks go. I have a EA chargers like 1/2 a mile from my work, so I figured I'd get some free juice. First time I stopped by and plugged in, I get a screen prompting me to swipe my credit card. I call Porsche SC- all good with account and everything is activated. I call EA, very nice SC, they "push" the charging through. I charge and leave. Also last week I picked up the car after doing PPF, there is an EA charger right there so I stopped by. Same story, getting prompted to swipe my CC. I call CS and they "push" charging through. After this, I call Porsche CS and I am told that this is a known issue with new Taycan where EA is not recognizing recent VINs as having free charging. I am told "there is nothing they can do at this time". It is annoying having to call every time to get charging "pushed through". Anyone else is having this issue and, if yes, anyone found a solution?

I dunno, put in your credit card for now until they get it fixed? What’s your time worth?

Thank you for your response. I guess I should have clarified- I usually charge at home (I have several EVs and good charging set up). I'd like free EA charging to work though for trips and such. Just wondering if anyone is having the same issue.

yes

ea sucks

porsche free charging is hit or miss

ea may or may not work - it is not a reliable charging network

there is only one choice in north america for a reliable fast charging network

I got my 23 CT mid Dec and plug and charge at EA has worked 3/4 times, at 3 different stations. The time it didn't work I used a credit card and ultimately didn't get charged by EA.

Curious if you could try to contact EA directly and ask them to 'load' your car's VIN to their system/database manually to perhaps get past this issue which TBH is quite bizarre!

Also, I know there are widely varying views and experiences here on this forum, but in a year of ownership and over 13 uses of 7 different EA stations in Texas I've not had one single issue in respect PnC working as designed and getting decent to excellent charging rates. Fingers crossed my good luck continues '23!

Tried to charge today and for the first time ever could not get free charging. Spoke to a Tech Person at Porsche Corporate and he said the problem(system issue) between Porsche and EA is still ongoing. He said it’s “hit or miss”whether it works. Today it worked for ten minutes and then shut off. Second time system asked for a credit card. I have not seen very much discussion of this issue. Porsche told me there is no time line for a fix and that I should call them next time I charge and they will conference call with EA and get authorization for free charging.

I should have stated my car is over a year old so issues apparently are not just related to new cars.
