Hello! We bought a 2022 Taycan Turbo (UK) in June and really love the car - however..

We were away in Italy and was charging at a fast charger (350kw) - all seemed ok, then the charging stopped; we restarted the charging and the same happened - after a few attempts we received a Electrical System Fault and the car wouldn’t start.

whilst waiting for a recovery truck, the fault cleared so we carried on with our journey.

at the next charge stop, we had a Charging not Possible message - we tried a 350, 150, 50, 22, 11 and 3kw charger using both ports and the same Charging not Possible message was displayed.

we had the car recovered to a Porsche Centre in the UK - on inspection the technician cleared the fault codes and all was ok. The car even passed its 111 check so we could extend the warranty.

The car was charged to 99% when we collected it and when we went to recharge, it charged to about 60%, then the Electrical System Fault and the car won’t move!

After about 30 minutes, the fault cleared and we have managed to get the car home.

I’ve read about faulty 22kw chargers and high voltage chargers but it seem strange that the technician didn’t find anything wrong after the faults were cleared and the car drove perfectly well.

Any ideas what the issue might be and has anyone had a similar problem?

Thanks in advance
James

It starts with the error code and irregular behaviour, after a few days it just dies. Been there done that (in my case 8k repair 50% Porsche goodwill)

Mine too… 2021 CT4
It’s done that consistently on many DC chargers. I had a new charger fitted a month or two ago and it did it again. Car been with Porsche for a fortnight now and they suspect insulation breakdown somewhere and they are going to next replace the high voltage converter. My warranty bills now top £10k.

Add a little more detail to our issue we are able to charge AC it would seem with no issue. We only experience DC charging issues when the car has been driven for a long distance, i.e. over 100 miles?

Are the AC and DC chargers in the car separate units?

DC charging fault can be an isolation fault with the battery, usually OBC failure gives AC charging issues, not DC charging issues.

If you want to pull the codes yourself you can download MapEV Diag for free:
