Is the exterior sound louder in Sport mode, Sport+ mode, or both? I really can't tell the difference; I'm not sure if my hearing is on the way out from old age. Some say it's Sport, others say Sport+

Thanks

It’s louder if you have sports sound as an option. Activated automatically at sport and sport plus. Or you can press the button for it in the pcm whenever. A lot of people code it to the steering wheel diamond key which is simply done in pcm.
If you don’t have the sports sound as a factory option then I don’t think anything gets louder whatever you do.

Deeper tone when ESS is switched on but remains the same outside I believe and differs aurally inside the car plus you'll get the auto blip on downshifts. There is a rumour that the sound may be slightly different overall in the GTS variants but that's a guess.

The most annoying option EVER (sorry) ... I just hate it and only (rarely) enable it when in an underground car park for pedestrian awareness given the noise of extractor fans and other cars.

The sound is clearly different between the GTS and other variants.

If you think it's the same outside whether it's on or off, why do you activate ESS for increased pedestrian awareness?

It is louder and a deeper tone with ESS on, that was my point but no difference depending on what drive mode the car was in.
