On a two day 300-mile round trip I had occasion to charge up twice. To be fair, I haven't had occasion to use EA equipment in recent months.
First time, Los Alamos, CA I had the 'pleasure' of watching several cars successfully hook up and charge from two different EA pumps. I my case, not so much. Tried the first pump using plug-and-charge method. Zip (didn't work). Tried the Porsche app. Zip. Called EA. Agent said the pump was out of order (it wasn't, another car came along a few minutes later and charged using that pump just fine). Switched to a different pump. Zip. EA (still on the phone) rebooted the unit. Zip. Agent suggested I could pay with a credit card. That didn't work either so I hung up and moved the car to a 150KW unit. That did work using my EA account.
Later in Goleta, CA where EA has 6-8 pumps, I tried to up my charge from about 65% to 90%. Again the Porsche app didn't work so I used w/ my EA account. Worked. However I found that I could only stop the charging process from the Taycan ... NONE of the buttons on the EA unit were operational nor were there any screen options such as Stop or Cancel charging. By the time I figured out that I could cancel charging from the Taycan, I was up to 99%. Not my plan.
I have to believe that Porsche COULD have provided a special credit card or other mechanism that would have allowed use of EA equipment without having to establish connections back to Mother Porsche each time. (If you want to provide 3 years of charging services for a new Taycan ... at least do it in a way that folks won't end up cursing your company and undermining its reputation for technical and marketing expertise.)
Personally, I'm done with charging through the Porsche app. Hopefully in the not too distant future I can be done with EA as well.
