Hi folks - I’ve enjoyed the conversation on this forum as I begin my journey to owning a Porsche for the first time. Im based in Edinburgh

My car is on order, as per the attached. I’m expecting an 18 month lead time:

http://www.porschecode.com/PPI86JB6

politely looking for some advice/thoughts on the following:
  • after market black wheels - any recommendations where is sensible on price?
  • Burnmeister speakers - are these worth it?
  • Matt black wrapping - lead times/cosy?
  • Calliper - going for black - aiming for a quietly assertive look with my motor.

Any thoughts/recommendations on spec welcome

Congratulations ;)

About the spec, i would definitively add ACC. Even if you don't plan to use the cruise control often it ll grant the necessary sensors to get innodrive or ALK later if you wish.

Even if you don't use it, it could be a smart move on a resell point of view.

About Burmester, i got them and it's nice.

Look wise, they re nice but on the doors the speakers are really néodyme color. I personnaly added neodyme accent just to match the speakers.

Sound wise: i've the noise insulated glass because i thought that the Burmester was expensive enough to deserve a quiet environnement.

Is it worth it? No sure that the added cost glass + burmester is worth that much over a Bose to be honest

As a side note: mine is jet black also and it's a pain to maintain clean

Welcome…i wish you fast forwarding calendar for next 18 month.
re Burmester: in short - it’s overpriced.
For more reading, use search function, there were lots of discousions about all three options.

almost forgot: i also always recommend RAS.

Add lane change assist/blind spot monitor. On Taycan blind spot monitor is an option.
Consider adaptive cruise control.

*do I understand correctly that I need the lane change assist option in order to have blind spot detection?
$ I hate adaptive cruise control, I do hope normal cruise control is standard?

As far as I know normal cruise control is standard in UK and Ireland.

Congrats on your Taycan order!

I have the Burmester in my GTS and I like it very much. I consider myself as an audiophile person with serious hi-fi systems at home. I listen mostly classical and jazz music. This is the area where Burmester excels. Instruments like violin, piano, and guitar sound great and clean. If you don't listen to classical music, I think Bose is fine and you save a lot of money.

Welcome!

First time Porsche owner but going straight to the current top of the Taycan model range - brave move! In 18 months time the Taycan Turbo GT (my guess) with tri-motor 1000PS will likely be around and the general facelift, most definitely.

Aftermarket wheels - not sure what choice there is and could be limited. Note they'll need to be suitable for the PCCB brakes and calipers.

Burmester - more than just speakers! Personally, I don't think it is worth the premium over Bose but as money is no object, why not?

Not a fan of matte wrapping so can't offer any advice / tips on that and (personally) don't like the finish it gives. Given your rather long lead time why not go for Paint to Sample Plus - for £15K you can have whatever you want painted?

Pano with VLC - more a gimmick than a benefit IMHO and you won't notice it when in the car. Standard pano is just fine. Again, money no object, why not?

Plenty of months (14+) to play with the configurator before locking.

No you don't.

Blind spot is separate - Lane Change Assist (LCA)

2 cruise control systems are standard (read the standard spec sheet!) - standard cruise control - set the speed and a speed limiter - drive to the prevailing speed limit.

ACC - I would skip 10,000% - too many failings due to the state of our roads and signage.
