I actually didn't notice any particularly unusual events that led up to it. Other than the voltage meter in my car fluctuating a little more every so often, instead of hovering between 13.4-13.6, I caught it a couple times at 12.9 and 14.1. But noticed no odd behavior or warning lights.
Service tech said when they charged and tested it, they found it had open contacts. It was the original battery in the car from factory, but even 5 years is still considered premature for these batteries, so mine might have been a defect.

The battery itself is only manufactured through and sold by Porsche (like most Porsche parts) from what I researched. The cheapest I could find it was about $1400 USD from a Porsche parts store. Dealer invoice showed it was about 2k price, and then the diagnostic fee, labor, etc.. Its not covered under my platinum extended warranty because its a consumable part. There's actually a paragraph listed in my platinum extended warranty pamphlet that specifically states 12v batteries aren't covered. So it was all out of pocket.
That's out right theft. 2k just for labor to replace the battery that is easy to access right in the frunk. That's on top of the massive profit margin on the battery itself.
