I know we've all be eagerly awaiting any news and a full reveal for the Cayman EV for like 4 years now. Curious, how do you all feel now that Alpine A110 EV and Caterham Project V has been confirmed (as of 2026 Vegas CES)? Do you find them to be real competitors or more niche picks that aren't worth considering?
Personally, I am very excited to see that 2027 should be the year of small electric sports EVs and that a lot of these products start coming into fruition. However, I did get a Miata to tide me over for a bit.
While obviously Porsche will blow the doors off from the dealer/service/post sale/build quality and most dailyable car. I still find the other offerings quite appealing from an engineering and lightness respect.
Cayman EV - ~3550lbs @ ~400hp. Heaviest. ~90k (+10k options) USD. Best at blending performance, luxury, and best dealer network for any inevitable issues. Could realistically be a daily driver.
Alpine A110 EV - ~2900lbs @ ~270hp. Lighter. Slower. Frugal option at ~80k USD. Alpine has some existing EV experience. Network will be new to US. Inevitable issues will be worse to deal with than Porsche, but likely better than Caterham. May be dailable, will not be as refined as Porsche.
Caterham Project V - ~2625lbs @ ~280hp. Ultra small network. May be most fun, unique style, and raw experience. Least dailyable. Inevitable issues will be a headache to fix. Must be a 2nd or 3rd car. Not even sure this thing has cup holders!
What are your thoughts on the 2027 Two-Door Sports EV roadmap?
