Hi everyone,

Hope you guys are enjoying the Porsche rides! I know I certainly do!

This backup camera is kinda annoying to me because I can't seem to default the setting I like. When the backup camera is activated, the "goldfish eye ball" angle setting always shows up first. I have the press on the other setting in order to get it back to the "normal" angle. The normal is angle is shown as the picture below with the green circle.

Does anyone know how to stay away the goldfish eye ball angle backup camera? Do I really have to change the setting every time I back it up?

Mine defaults to what is in the lower picture you shared. They one it the lines overlaid. Not sure why yours doesn’t.

Yours default to the picture with or without the green circle?

Then you and I are the same. I am trying to default it to the green circle one. To me, that is the more comfortable angle...

Oh ok. That one is the full 180 degree fish eye. I only use that when backing out of a parking space where I can’t see due to vehicles next to me.

Same, I wanted default to the fisheye angle, the most common use case I have.

What year is your car and what parking options are on it?

Mine also defaults to the one with overlayed car path (blue) and car boundary (red) - they both have some safety margin built in. TBH, I prefer it for backing up over the other view. That said, even after getting used to it, I think it's just ok, as I've had cars with much better backup camera solution.

One other important note, I'm 99% sure that the cross traffic alerts only show up in the view with the path overlay. Most Taycans have rear cross traffic detection/warning (uses same radars as LCA feature), some have front cross traffic warnings as well (uses optional front radars - region and options dependent), mine has both, and I find them very useful.

Four years with the GTS and I still rate it #1 at any price for the singularly worse backup camera ever installed on a vehicle.

ditto. I had mine for just couple month and I’m not getting used to it.
It actually makes parking harder and I have to try ignoring the screen but then those loud beeps scare me so I end up looking at the screen and it’s just chaos.

I ignore the beeps when pulling into my garage, but you can also mute them on the screen, using the controls on the left (same way as you disable the maneuvering assist, which I disable because I pull real close to things in my garage). I mostly use my mirrors when backing in, but I learned to make some use of the rear and front view cameras.

When pulling into less tight quarters, I learned to use all the cameras. Now, I've owned my Taycan over 2 years now, I don't remember how long it took, might have been more than 2 months.

Side note, not sure how this happened, I used to disable the maneuvering assist manually before entering the garage. However, at some point I noticed my car somehow disables it for me when pulling into the garage, yet it is still active when maneuvering elsewhere, maybe it has some learning, or maybe it disables itself as I carefully crawl backwards? To be fair, the maneuvering assist did once saved me a close call, I was backing into a real tight parking spot (probably the reason it wasn't taken in the first place, getting to it took backing up with inches of clearance sometimes and probably all the rear wheel deflection RAS could muster). Another car cut me off by pulling out right behind my car, but I was paying attention to the side of the car, probably would not have noticed in time.
