How do I know if power steering is activated and working?

You probably have.
Normal power steering keeps enough effort to retain steering feel which is lacking on many, if not most, cars.
Power steering plus which is an option varies steering effort with speed, making it lighter when going slower. Some people prefer that some hate it - it is a personal thing.
If you have rear axle steering it will have PS+ included.

IMO the steering on the Taycan is one of its most appealing driver focused aspects.

Does it list Power Steering or Power Steering Plus?
Is the heaviness at all speeds?
Are your front tyres within the recommended pressure range?

US spec cars have Power Steering Plus (PSP) as standard - this is speed sensitive and weights up as you drive faster and therefore at its 'lightest' when stationary. Should be immediately obvious if no assistance available.

By default all Taycans have Power Steering.

If still in doubt (you may have a fault) then there should be a warning message and if still in doubt off to the dealership you go.

If your power steering went out, I think you'd know it for sure. Turning the wheels manually on a 5,000 lb. car would be a non-starter.

Popeye would have trouble turning the wheel on your car if power steering was absent.

Oh is that it? I was wondering why the wheel was so much easier to turn than my Boxster. Got to say, I preferred it the other way, this feels a bit "too electronic"...
