The recent issue of Car & Driver features their “EV of the Year” and a Taycan 4S was Porsche’s representative in the contest. As it turned out, the Mustang Mach-E was the winner. It actually seems like a very nice vehicle and, taking everything into consideration, it’s probably a reasonable choice for the award. But I digress.
In the same issue there was a comparison test between a BMW M2 CS and a PDK equipped Porsche Cayman GTS 4.0, which the Porsche won. The inclusion of this test in the same issue made it easy to compare some performance statistics between the 4S, a 4 door GT and a true sportscar, the Cayman 4.0.
I found it interesting that the two cars had identical tested 0-60 times, were within a tenth of a second of each other in the ¼ mile and within a hundredth of a G on the skid pad. But what I found truly amazing was that the PCCB equipped 4S actually stopped 2 feet shorter (147 to 149) from 70 MPH than the Cayman GTS, despite weighing nearly 1 ton more. Porsche brakes!
