Did not know this...how much data are we allotted/month on the "included" plan. I did not subscribe to the hotspot services and wondered what kind of bandwidth or amount of data we can download.
If you have not subscribed to the extra plan for WiFi and are connected in your car, you use your phone for CarPlay. You do not need an extra data package for this at all. I have not heard about a limit on the cars connectivity for the PCM Internet radio, Apple Music, Spotify, Google satellite view, search functions etc etc. That is all with the cars system.

I would have said all of this too but everything was working fine until the data text from Porsche to say we’d run out. All your logical points I agree with but I can assure you I tried various workarounds to no avail.
No Spotify/Apple Music/Podcasts. The data upgrade does allow use as a hotspot but it’s the same wifi network the car uses to connect to the phone for Carplay and so it uses that for data not the phone.

It might be that the data upgrade has caused this as it allowed use of Teams in car which it wouldn’t have without the hotspot enabled.
The catch 22 here is that the rear seat entertainment doesn’t work without the hotspot so I had to purchase it. The RSE is equally non functional until Jan 8th but luckily the next big drive is the 9th. I can report back then if everything corrects itself.

For those saying use your phone as a hotspot well you can’t if you want to use Carplay and the RSE hasn’t been very keen to pick up the iPhone hotspot so far.

i am fairly tech savvy and may yet work out a bodge but I shouldn’t have to and fortunately don’t need to based on timings. All Porsche need is an auto top up on data which UK are now asking Germany about.

The only thing that has stayed live it seems is the nav and the charger updates.

That is interesting if the hotspot will take over the cars normal LTE connection. I did not know the facts about RSE at all. But I guess they would be equivalent to a tablet with WiFi?

Have you checked that your car has the normal LTE connection by the symbol in the PCM and the green light for SOS. Are you missing other functions in the PCM like searching for address or destinations etc. Are you getting charging stops in the navigation when you plan a long route etc.

As said I do not have the subscription so not had your issues.
