Hi. I have fallen in love (lust?) with the Taycan. So, first, congratulations to everybody on this forum who has one! I think they are incredible in person. I'm a lifetime Audi guy, and for the life of me, I can't understand why they look so much better than the E-tron GT when they share the same platform. I've tried to convince myself that the E-tron is the better way to go, but I can't stop looking at the Taycan. My personal favorite is the Gentian Blue with the exclusive design wheels with the carbon shading. It kind of reminds me of my old TT, but on steroids.

I am in the early stages of looking into getting a used Taycan. I am somebody who buys a nice, lightly used car and drives it until the wheels fall off. I have never owned an EV, so I am trying to learn as much as I can about battery life/longevity. Can anybody point me to reliable resources that address the Taycan's battery and what is a reasonable expectation for its lifespan? I know there isn't a ton of data yet due to the recency of the model line.

I'm curious what people's thoughts are on the likelihood that if I buy a 2024 or wait a year to buy a 2025 (assume around 20K miles) and put on 6K-8K miles/year, that I would be able to get 12-15 years out of it without having to replace the battery?

The taycan is just on another level. I’m with you, I’ve tried to like the e-tron GT since it shares the platform, but the Taycan just looks better from every angle. Gentian Blue with the Exclusive Design wheels is an absolute killer spec.

If going for longevity, you may be better with a 2025 from a long term capacity issue just because it’s a larger battery.

But it’s also the first year of a new battery, so no one could really tell you about 12-15 year longevity.

Saw a study the other day about 10 year old EVs…… and 8.5% of them have had a battery replacement. Another way to look at it? 91.5% didn’t. Seems like decent odds.

In terms of overall cost though, a 12-15 yr old EV is basically worthless so your cost of ownership is very much dependent on initial purchase price. A used 24 is going to be a lot cheaper.

Good luck either way.
