IONITY chargers between Malaga and Madrid doesn’t work!

Drove from Malaga Friday morning 9th November towards Madrid and when we arrived to the only charging station halfway all 4 chargers were offline. (It’s a +300
Drive form tha last IONITY charger north of Malaga)

We arrived with 5% charge and 20 km range and called IONITY hotline who couldn’t help.

We have taken the trip 3 times from Copenhagen to
Malaga and back and never experienced a break down of all chargers at a IONITY charting point.

We didn’t check the availability of the chargers in the iPhone app (now we do) - I’ll recommend that to all of you using IONITY.

BTW They’re still not working Saturday evening and there’s nothing alerting you in their app.

Just a heads up if you plan to use it!
FYI the Tesla chargers in the next city is not open to other brands, and there's only 40kWh chargers in the next city.

We just made it to the next city with 1% charge and are on our way north to Copenhagen and all other IONITY chargers has been working fast and flawless.

Just wish IONITY would alert us in the app and a few more charging points in Spain - you still can’t go from Barcelona to Malaga using only the IONITY network (so we take the west route).

What did it say on the PCM satnav? It should have shown 0/4 for your whole journey in which case I would be looking for somewhere else

I don’t use the Porsche Nav since we nearly ended at 0% in the middle of nowhere on our first trip to Spain two years ago. The problem then was that Porsche’s navigation server was down. Left it then an only use Apple Maps / CarPlay and IONITY chargers - you can’t have it all;/

That is annoying.

ChargeFinder mentions the charger is inaccessible and faulted since more than 24 hours. IONITY just 0/4 which could give a hint when it persists all day. Porsche shows a ?/4 also indicating a problem. At least IONITY should show the charge is not working.

Even when you would have had this info on your previous stop I wonder if you could have changed your route. Maybe you could have driven along the coast I you would have know on departure.

When looking at your trip and chargers along the way Spain has some work to do.

It would really trigger my range anxiety if I only had one HPC I could use on a long trip. When traveling to Istria this summer I avoided Slovenia because it only had 1 HPC on my route. It was a IONITY with only 2 chargers. Decided to travel over Italy.

Ionity app showing still off line 1 week+ later.

Incidentally, i drove Barcelona to Malaga in October. My first long distance EV experience. several chargers (non-Ionity) would not accept the RFID card or app QR scanner.

There is a very good and reliable Endesa charge point at Guarromán (Jaen) 350KW. PCS card worked and charged me approx 0.58/KW. It doesn’t attract the 0.33 rate of Ionity or Iberdrola but using PCS card was a bit cheaper than the Endesa Enel X Way app.
