I got this fault for the first time on Friday. September 2020 4S with 20K on clock, bought it 3 months ago Porsche Approved Used.

Tried again 10 minutes later and the fault was gone but I phoned Porsche Assistance out yesterday as I didn't want to risk the fault returning while driving. The technician plugged in the car into his laptop and it detected faulty cells in the HV battery.

The car is now with Porsche and I await the news... Under warranty, thankfully!

*UPDATE* - Car was uplifted on 16th August and taken to Porsche centre. I have a Merc Hybrid CLA 250 from Porsche Assistance.

Porsche tried draining the battery to 0% and fully recharging - error reappeared.

After technical ticket response from Germany, it has to go Reading (800-mile round trip) for a battery repair of two defective cells. Waiting on parts due 29th September before they can even ship the car to Reading ?

Who knows when it will be repaired... 4 weeks in, could be another 4.

Sorry to hear that. It spunds like exactly the same issue that I have got with my car. My car is in Stockholm, Sweden, while I am in the south of France now. Also waiting for two modules as well as a HV Battery Control Unit. Porsche Assistance have repatriated us home, but we did not get an offer of any car to use in the meantime! But the trip home including all taxis were paid for, so no complaints.

Let us see when parts will be available. My car is booked for repair on Monday, if parts have arrived?? So far no information from Porsche.

My charger was limited to 12A and house fuses are rated at 20A. How could a car draw more current than the charger allows, unless the wall charger is faulty?
The wall “charger” is not actually a charger. It’s called an EVSE (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment), and its role is to implement GFCI and few other simple end user protections (keeping you from getting electrocuted) as well as advertise to the car the max current limit. EVSE is not required to enforce the max current, so most don’t. The most an EVSE could do to enforce it is to power the car off if it draws more than it’s supposed to, but that is an almost redundant function as the fuse. If your car’s onboard charger malfunctions, most EVSEs will let it draw anything it draws, and fuse/breaker will protect the circuit.

This morning I got the yellow electrical fault message. RWD MY2022 with 40k kilometers. Nothing helped, the car had to be towed to the dealer. They suspect faulty high voltage charger.

It happened when the car was being charged overnight. House electrical fuses switched off. My charger was limited to 12A and house fuses are rated at 20A. How could a car draw more current than the charger allows, unless the wall charger is faulty?
so was your vehicle unable to drive? My Turbo had the yellow electrical fault pop and I drove on it for about a month before my appointment. Never had any issue with it other then it sometimes wouldn’t fully charge over night and felt slower when the light was on. Right before I took it in it started to have massive battery drain. Every one mile driven equated to 1 percent of battery. It would also vampire drain the battery. So far it was sitting 2.5 weeks not being moved and went from 100-25% So far dealer said it was the high voltage charger and the high voltage booster. They are currently being installed, so hopefully it fixes it.

Why would emergency brake enable itself when the battery throws an error? The car should not fail to brakes full-on. This should have easily been flagged during FMEA.

I got the red electrical system fault when I tried to start my drive this morning. Will report back on what happens.

UPDATE:

Porsche have had the car for over 2 months now. No sign of parts. No timeline on when the repair will be completed.

Reading instances of similar problems leading to reduced battery performance. The experience has been abysmal and I’m on the brink of pursuing a refund and telling them to keep it.

believe I am in the same spot. Last week they sent out some error codes to Porsche for diagnosing. Already have the high voltage charger ready to go in but have a feeling a new battery or cell replacement will be required. Two months in and not sure how much longer to go. Have a great loaner though so not upset but do miss it.

How long have you had the Taycan?

I only had the car for 2.5 months when the issue first started.
We have lemon laws in the USA which address such situations where a new car cannot be fixed in a certain amount of tries or certain amount of time, typically resulting in the manufacturer buying back the car. Do you have anything like this in the UK?

Good time of the day all!

I’m yet another lucky to get a similar red error. Restarted the car and it disappeared. The Porsche app also reported the charging problem (my wife called me and said so).

Shall I start to worry and go to the dealer? The car is at 47k km and still has warranty.

It might be safest to go to the dealer and have it checked if you can. My problems started that way and quickly deteriorated from that.

Do you have an OBD reader and CarScanner accessible? In such case have a check on your charge levels on each module. They should be very equal.

I made a call. They suggested to wait if it gets repeated. And then they can diagnose the car.

Unfortunately, I only have a wired adapter for bmw. Going to order a bt one that works with CarScanner.
