Came back to the car after leaving it at the airport for a few days and luckily the yellow warning was gone. The old switch it off and on again seemed to have done the trick for now.

I fast charged at Ionity an hour later and had no further issues.

Taycans make great sense on a business lease, but these threads have put me off owning one.

I plan to keep my next car long term so a 2020 Taycan Turbo doesn’t really make sense.

Imagine being told you need a new big battery outside of warranty.

EV’s will be soId on a subscription model in the future imo.

Owning one just doesn’t make sense.

I appreciate a ICE can fail but it’s unlikely if properly maintained (unless it’s a 996 or 997).

Too many variables outside the owners control with EV’s and tech moves so quickly now they date so fast.

I got an update from my SA. I have 2 bad cells and now I’m waiting on a Porsche engineer to come and do the needful. It has been 26 days now and I have no ETA for the Porsche engineer. My SA said it will be “a while” ??‍♂
But “good news” is I have a Taycan loaner till I get my car back. It’s not the same spec but I’m glad I’m not driving an ICE ?

Hmmm . . . my dealership said they no longer do the cell replacements where the engineer flies in from Germany to oversee the HV battery pack rework. They attempted that with a customer last year and after five months could not get it to work right, so Porsche had to buy the Taycan back from the customer. I had two bad cells and they went straight to HV battery pack replacement:

Interesting. I’ve wondered about the long term reliability of module replacement vs replacing the entire pack (Tesla won’t and the argument seems to revolve around balancing of the cells). My Model S battery just went. I’d much rather pay to replace a module or two, vs the $23k they want to replace the pack. Bad news for me is I’ve lost any trade-in value the car may have had….good news is it’s fast-tracked my Taycan purchasing decision

There are 3rd party repairers who can fix your battery by replacing individual modules for much less than $23K (e.g. Electrified Garage, Gruber Motors)

Don't you just love the consistent level of service across the Porsche service network?

Yup. I’m weighing my options at the moment (cost vs how much I will get after repair/sale). Fewer options in Canada, however recell will ship back n forth. Need to visit Porsche after holidays to see if they’d be willing take the repaired vehicle as a trade in

I may have missed it in this thread but.....wouldn't a main battery issue be covered under 48/40,000 warranty?
OK.....I see that it is, however, the way it is addressed and how quickly it is addressed is apparently another matter.

It's covered even longer than that. 8 years, 100K miles (could be more, I don't remember exactly).
