A few updates on the trip logging feature:

- I've been heavily optimizing the app's battery use so that all-day trip logging now only consumes <~5% of phone battery per day, while still maintaining a high degree of trip accuracy.

- The journey map now includes your Porsche POIs on the map, and even lets you edit POI labels so that you can more easily identify your POIs while in your vehicle and from the app!

- Because trip logs pair so well with your vehicle battery history, it's easy to get a sense of how much energy your most common trips use.
- I plan to also correlate trip data with reported mileage so that you can get a sense of how accurate your car's mileage estimates are.

I'm pretty close to releasing this feature set to the beta pool, hopefully by the end of the weekend. Looking forward to your feedback soon!

I found a bug in the trip log feature that caused it not to start during the initial setup flow. This will be fixed automatically in the next beta release and when it's fixed, you'll get a prompt for access to your motion data (this is expected).

If you'd like to enable trip logging sooner, you can do so by turning trip logging off and on again in the Settings page (I know, I know ?).

Also working on Tesla support and interactive widgets, so you'll be able to do things like enable climatization directly from your watch face, lock screen, or home screen widgets. And for those who like hacking with Shortcuts you'll get support for them to boot

Climatization status will now show up in the widget. I'm debating how exactly to expose climatization toggling from these widgets, so I think I'm going to provide a couple of options:

Option 1: You'll be able to configure the default action that occurs when tapping on the charge widget. For example, if you've set it to "enable climatization", then tapping the widget will always try to enable climatiation.
Option 2: Add another widget that's essentially just buttons for specific commands (this is how most apps have enabled similar functionality). I'm not a huge fan of this relatively because it eats up valuable widget real estate, but I'll add it in case there's a preference.

This release also includes three Shortcuts that you can now use in your own custom Shortcuts!

For example, here's a Shortcut that, when run, will check if it's cold outside before turning on climatization:

I can then schedule this to run every day before I know I'll have to get into the car

I've noticed that the upgrade to support Shortcuts may have caused widgets to get into a bit of a funky state. If you're noticing that your widgets aren't updating like usual, please follow these instructions:

On your iPhone lock screen:
1. Tap-and-hold your lock screen.
2. Tap Customize.
3. Tap the affected widget.
4. Tap the affected widget again to enter its configuration menu. You might get a "Unable to load" dialog the first time you try this; this should resolve if you try again.
5. Make sure your vehicle is selected.

On your iPhone home screen:
1. Tap-and-hold your widget.
2. Tap Edit Widget.
3. Make sure your vehicle is selected.

On your Apple Watch face:
1. Tap-and-hold your watch face.
2. Tap Edit.
3. Swipe to the Complications page.
4. Tap the affected complication.
5. Make sure you've selected a configuration that shows your car's name.

Working on iterations to the trip logging feature.

First up: more detailed trip analysis.

Trips that have bookended range data will now give you an "Efficiency" rating, which is just the actual distance traveled divided by the estimated range delta reported by your car. It's a made up number, but maybe a reasonable proxy for efficiency. I'm curious to see what others' numbers come out to; I always drive in Sports Plus mode and drive the car like I stole it, so I'm not surprised at my efficiency numbers ?

Second up: weather and music logging with trips.

During trips, Electric Sidecar will be able to log the music you listened to. I plan to use this to build automatic playlists from recurring trips or to find that one track you maybe shuffled to but don't remember. In the future it might be fun to allow people to share their playlists through the app.

Weather will also get logged with trips, which in turn will feed in to trip analysis reports. I'll likely enable some form of anonymized trip analysis sharing so that we can start building some broader analysis reports on vehicle efficiency in different conditions / climates / locations and broken down by model / trim / options.

A few bugs that have been fixed:

- Trip analysis is now done on a background thread and cached, significantly improving responsiveness as your backlog of journeys grows.
- Your car's stats are now fetched automoatically at the beginning and end of a journey (+3-5 minutes to allow the car to upload data). This will increase the likelihood that you get reasonably fresh data for your trip reports.

Works ok on iphone, it requires iOS 17, but it looks that i have problems with complications on iWatch.
I can select complication, bit it doesn’t display on iWatch at all.
Now, i just started upgrade to v10.1….will let you know.

Edit: after iWatch upgrade, i just needed to select complications again, it’s OK now.

You'll soon be able to drill in to each trip's map and see more detailed information overlaid on the trip such as time spent waiting (not driving!).

Ahh when the app can't find a Porsche API that supports your country, it defaults to the Germany API endpoints. This probably shouldn't affect the UI parts though; I've made note and will fix that, thank you!
