Our Taycan has lost comms again. (4G showing as connected; most services not working; Google search disabled; traffic data unavailable; remote features offline etc. - note that this is a specific J1.2 problem). Sleep and restart didn’t fix. An overnight ferry and restart on a new network didn’t either.
And of course it happens at the moment we set off for a road trip UK->Denmark. Last time it was also on a big road trip. We can use CarPlay but it is so frustrating to lose features on the PCM.
Last time (and if I remember correctly the same for others on the forum with J1.2) they replaced the comm box. Took ages to get an appointment.
Does anyone know what is technically happening here? I find it hard to believe we have had two hardware failures. The symptoms
Look more like a SIM card that has expired or been deauthorised - not something they need to pull the car apart for. Are they replacing the comm boxes because they don’t know how to fix in software? Or are these comm boxes the J1.2 equivalent of the j1’s 22 kW charger, ie they have a design fault?
And I assume there is still no remedy for this issue short of OPC workshop time? Last time they had me log out and I could not log in again so I don’t want to try that.
